I haven’t experienced Oktoberfest outside of Singapore, but if it’s anything like what new Brotzeit Group Exec Chef Lorenz Raich serves up on his special Oktoberfest menu (available 15 Sep to 25 Oct 2020), I’m going to leave Munich very happy and satisfied.

His Kalter Schweinsbraten (Cold Roast Pork) is a most definite highlight from the selection. Pork collar, marinated overnight in a secret 12-spice mix, slow-roasted on a bed of root vegetables and Brotzeit’s lager, then chilled. The thin slices then enjoyed with a flourish of textures (where crispy pork skin meets the moist crunch of house-pickled daikon radish) and spice from crushed black pepper and a mustard aioli.

Perfect to nibble and wash down with refreshing gulps of German beer, Brotzeit’s delightful Dreierlei Eingemachtes spread of Duck Confit, Chicken Truffle, Smoked Trout served with romaine lettuce leaves and salted pretzels. Part of their special Oktoberfest menu available through 25 Oct 2020.

Knusprige Schweinsschulter - Crispy Roasted Pork Shoulder.
Marinated overnight Boneless pork shoulder with Brotzeit's12-spice pork knuckle spice mix, then lightly steamed and roasted until skin is crispy.
Served with housemade potato dumpling, roasted autumn vegetables and pork jus.
The portion is quite big, good for sharing between 2-3 people.

Not in pic: cured meat/cheese platter.
Great place if you like German food/meat.

Brotzeit's Oktoberfest menu is personally curated by Chef Lorenz Raich, whose experience in Michelin-starred kitchens and boutique F&B venues, with the highlight that the food is light yet richly savoury.

Two items must try from Oktoberfest are (both are my favourite and pair it with 🍺, shiok):
💕Crispy Pork Cracklings.
Pork skin cooked in a stock made with onions, carrot, celery, leek, garlic, black pepper seeds, mustard seeds and coriander seeds.
The skin pressed overnight, portioned and dehydrated, and deep-fried in very hot oil till it puffs up and seasoned with salt and Brotzeit's 10-spice mix for snack.

💕Knusprige Schweinsohren
Crispy Fried Pig Ears
Pig ears are cooked in a stock made with spices, vegetables and herbs. The ears pressed overnight, cut into long stripes and coated with flour, egg and Haubis (organic European bakery) breadcrumbs, then deep-fried till golden-brown.
Served with mustard aioli made in-house with mayonnaise, hot and wholegrain mustard and cayenne pepper

Want something sweet? End the meal with the Battered Fried Apple Wheels ($11), slices of Fuji apples are beer battered, deep fried and finished with some icing sugar and cinnamon, served alongside housemade vanilla cookie crumbles and vanilla ice cream.

These dishes are available ala carte or you can head over for their Oktoberfest Brunch ($42), which is an ala-carte buffet on weekends from 11am to 3pm. The buffet does not come with drinks and you can add on the liquids by topping up $10 for 3 hours of free flow soft drinks, $35 for 3 hours of free flow prosecco, beer, house wines and softdrinks, $50 to change the prosecco to premium sparkling option or $60 to change to champagne. Prices does not involve government tax and service charge.
