It seems like the folks at Bundt by The Backyard Bakers are going from strength to strength after the opening of their Jewel Changi Airport outlet some time back โ€” they had since moved out of their small hole-in-the-wall unit at Havelock II, and have relocated to a bigger shop space at China Street dubbed #THEBACKYARDBAKERSHQ within the Central Business District. The Backyard Bakers now finds itself sandwiched between two pretty notable eateries at its new location across from Far East Square โ€” its new neighbours being that of Chilli Pan Mee (Batu Rd) and the newest outlet of 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist that had opened just pretty recently as well. This outlet bears the same tagline as their Jewel Changi Airport; โ€œOriginal Blackout Brownie Dealer โ€” Create in Singapore, for the Worldโ€ at its entrance โ€” the tagline seemingly being introduced when they had opened their Jewel Changi Airport outlet back then. The design cues of its new space follows very closely to that of their Jewel Changi Airport outlet, which is in turn seemingly inspired by that of the short-lived dine-in cafe, Graze by The Backyard Bakers, which they used to run at NEWest โ€” think a dark, industrial-inspired design theme featuring grey and black elements with some natural elements such as plants to give the space some โ€œlifeโ€. It is interesting to note that the China Street location though operates as a takeaway location, does have some bench seating for those who wishes to consume their goodies on the spot. While Bundt by The Backyard Bakers was previously known to have carried sandwiches in their menu in the past, the establishment has been focusing on their blackout brownie offerings for quite a while now โ€” their China Street outlet carries an extensive selection of their blackout brownie in various flavours to choose from; there are also muffins, brookies and banana bread that are being stocked up as well. Beverages available at The Backyard Bakers at China Street includes espresso-based specialty coffee, as well as chocolate-based beverages.

Having made our visit to Bundt by The Backyard Bakers and Graze by The Backyard Bakers previously, one thing that we absolutely cannot get enough of from The Backyard Bakers would be their blackout brownies. We were pretty spoilt for choice on which one to go for considering the extensive selection of brownies that they have โ€” we eventually found ourselves going for the Whisky Orange Blackout Brownie since we had always liked the combination of orange and chocolate. Considering how these are pretty much sold from the display shelf and its kiosk-style operation, these would have come pretty much as-is without an option to have them warmed up (not sure if they would if one asks nicely for it though). Sinking our teeth right into the Whisky Orange Blackout Brownie, the Whisky Orange Blackout Brownie was pretty much what we recalled about their stellar blackout brownies when we had visited Bundt by The Backyard Bakers previously โ€” their brownies have always been a nice in-between of a cake-like brownie and a fudge-y brownie on the very first bite; just dense and sticky enough to hold itself together, yet not too cake-like that it would crumble into small bits as one bites through. Each bite comes off pretty firmly held, while the brownie is absolutely rich in flavour with its chocolatey notes โ€” a literal chocolate heaven that is as decadent as it can get. As one gets through to the middle of the blackout brownie, there is that slightly gooey and sticky chocolate ganache layer hidden in between that further adds on to that chocolatey goodness that the blackout brownie already comes with โ€” the Whisky Orange version coming with strips of candied orange for an extra chew and a slight zing amidst some sweetness for an extra flavoural contrast; just the thing that we are looking for in an item with a chocolate-orange infusion. Yet another satisfying creation by the folks of The Backyard Bakers.

Bundt by The Backyard Bakers are folks that had pretty much started off with a very humble beginning โ€” we recalled their space Havelock II being a hole-in-the-wall space that where dine-in patrons used to be seated outside the space โ€” there werenโ€™t many seats to begin with for those who intend to dine-in though it is noted that there are also a lack of standing space for patrons within its premises as well; it was also pretty much just its founders behind the counter taking orders and busting out all of the food orders in the small area that they occupy back then. Whilst we had not thought much about the establishment back then, it was the now-defunct Graze by The Backyard Bakers that truly left an impression with us โ€” the foundersโ€™ dedication and passion in the craft as well as their efforts in creating the best for their patrons could be easily felt in the food that they were dishing out. We still have pretty strong impressions of their Triple Decker Otah Sandwich back then โ€” an item that was also available at Bundt at The Backyard Bakers which we utterly enjoyed. It was also at Graze by The Backyard Bakers that we have first tried their blackout brownie โ€” the Macadamia Brownie that we also loved. Fast forward to today, we would think that it is quite unimaginable even for the founders of The Backyard Bakers to have thought that the name could have gone so far โ€” this is especially after the closure of Graze by The Backyard Bakers, as well as surviving as a F&B business with a strong core on its bakes during the COVID-19 pandemic; it is truly amazing to see how brands such as The Backyard Bakers have grown since their early days. We are also glad that they have been pretty consistent with their blackout brownie offerings over the years, as evidently portrayed by the Whisky Orange Blackout Brownie which we went for. We hereby congratulate the folks behind The Backyard Bakers on the opening of their new #THEBACKYARDBAKERSHQ at China Street, and wishing them all the best in everything that is to come!

Visited on a public holiday and it was super crowded with snaking long queue at 3.43pm.

Most of their brownies selection are available but some of their popular ones are running out. (Depends on the day itself too)

Bought the [PB] Peanut Butter & Himalayan Pink Salt ($6.50), MLW - Signature Molten Lava Dark Choc, Walnut & Sea Salt ($8.10) and [70] 70% Fleur de Cao Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt ($7.10)

The PB flavour was super rich & thick which it can be very gelat/heavy after a few bites (with the loads amount of salt). The chocolate has a good amount of sweetness and bitterness, so it is good if you prefer a rich dark flavour profile with PB. I feel that this is too much to finish for one person and meant to be share instead.

I felt that the MLW was overly sweet and the salt is too much in this. I couldnโ€™t finish this on my own as I need to spam water to compensate the sweetness of the chocolate. This is a must buy option if you have a very very sweet tooth.

The 70% flavour is just nice for me. Not too sweet and has a slight bitterness to it. It is not overpowering with loads of sweetness/saltiness. This is the type of brownie that I could finish on itโ€™s own. If you like a balance profile flavour of brownie, this is the flavour to go for.

Overall, the brownies are good and matches the price point and quality for each one of them. It can be slightly overpriced & overated but it is good to indulge in this once in awhile. I will probably go for this again if I happen to be there and craving for it. (And maybe short queue)

I've never been much of a chocolate fanatic, but this Valrhona Dark Choc & Sea Salt Caramel Brookie ($6.40) may have just turned me into a convert! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค

I mean, what could go wrong with Valrhona Chocolate, an ooooozy Chocolate Lava Core paired with a slightly savoury cookie base? ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿช๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ

@thebackyardbakers is no secret to local brownie insiders, but I was drawn to their new drinks offering at their spanking new Jewel outlet, particularly one involving some alcohol and coffee... ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค

A take on ๐™„๐™ง๐™ž๐™จ๐™ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™›๐™›๐™š๐™š๐Ÿ€ ๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด the cream, think classic ๐™„๐™˜๐™š๐™™ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™›๐™›๐™š๐™š laced with a shot of Baileys and a dollop of ๐™Ž๐™š๐™– ๐™Ž๐™–๐™ก๐™ฉ ๐˜พ๐™–๐™ง๐™–๐™ข๐™š๐™ก ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿง‚ just for kicks. ๐Ÿคคโ˜• Be warned though, the coffee does get pretty watered down with the ice and fancy flavours, so if you're looking for an afternoon caffeine perk-me-up, this is not the drink for you... ๐Ÿซฃ

But if you're looking for a fun flavour splash to go with your brownies, definitely give their new drinks a try at their gorgeous new outlet in the East!๐Ÿ˜โ˜•โ˜•

Scone looks craggly, itโ€™s not super buttery, also not floury but feels a bit plain. The texture is quite crumbly. Definitely needs the condiments. Edit: after 2 days (bought on sat, eating on mon), the scone tastes nicer! More ๅ…ฅๅ‘ณ, good on its own. Extra nice when toasted in the oven.

The creme brรปlรฉe is so good? I didnโ€™t know I liked creme brรปlรฉe bc it usually is quite sweet. This was sweet from the sea salt caramel, but not cloying, tasted quite light, and it was very smooth and had a nice pleasant vanilla fragrance (u can see the speckles of vanilla)! I really enjoyed this.

Blackcurrant compote was nice and curranty with whole currants inside, but the yuzu flavour was not present. It was tangy from the currants and not the yuzu.

Tldr: idm having these scones again, itโ€™s not bad, and if I see the creme brรปlรฉe listed as the accompanying โ€œsauceโ€ I will definitely order!!

I love their avotoasts! Itโ€™s refreshing and tasty, and the main draw for me (even tho I like their brownies too). The original avo is nice, but less flavourful than the cashew pesto avo.

Original herbivore was topped with egg salad, juicy cherry tomatoes and furikake and a sprig of dill, light but flavourful. The smoked salmon was okay but didnโ€™t make an impression; the otah was rather flavourful and there were some chunks which gave a nice bite, but I wonโ€™t reorder bc it was a tad too spicy for me.

The sourdough toast is probably not baked in-house, in fact it tastes quite similar to cedeleโ€™s loaves so maybe they get it from cedele? Anw itโ€™s decent, tho not an impressive sourdough, but it gets the job done as a base for the generous portions of avo/otah on top.

Would rec to go for cashew pesto herbivore (itโ€™s my fav combi so far) if you have a similar palate as me!
