Burp Kitchen & Bar (Bedok Reservoir)

One of my favourites at Burp. Granted it’s not your Italian authentic carbonara, its one creamy plate of pasta and sufficient to satisfy your Singaporean carbonara craving if you need one. Best part, a generous amount of smoked salmon and bacon which adds more flavour to the plate. Unfortunately though, they hiked their prices up quite substantially recently, and I am honestly ambivalent as to whether the price justifies its worth.

Had some tea and snacks (fried mushroom fritters, ice cream + waffles) while having a good chat by the Bedok Reservoir was quite relaxing and chill to spend the afternoon.

This was a very enticing item on the menu but unfortunately fell short of expectations. Brioche bun was nothing out of this world, probably just bought off the shelf and toasted to a texture that was a bit hard. The amount of shrimp and crab meat was decent, but the meagre sauce lacked flavour, and I honestly could not make out what it was supposed to be. Perhaps it was just good ol’ simple mayonnaise, but the whole dish just generally tasted bland. The roll has much potential to be more flavourful, only if burp can elevate the sauces and perhaps be more generous with it.

Kueh Pie Tee shells with a slice of smoked duck and salsa inside, and then topped with mozzarella cheese. Interesting appetiser for sharing and it is worth a try if you like smoked duck and want to try something fusion.

All I can say is that I have had better elsewhere. Their coffee may be subpar but I think their other drinks on the menu look more enticing and are potentially better.

Crab Mac and cheese had a milky liquidy texture, together with a slight powdery texture probably because of the powdered cheese that became sediments in the gravy. I personally would’ve preferred a Mac & cheese that had the sticky, chewy texture as well, but this was more of a creamy, milky gravy like Mac & cheese that some might be a fan of! I thought the crab shreds did not blend in well with this Mac and cheese, especially because the shreds kind of disintegrate into the dish and the crab loses all its flavour and can’t really be found. The bacon bits fared much better — after all, bacon Mac & cheese combo would not go wrong!
