Today we MUNCH-ed on...🤤

📍Butterknife Folks, Funan📍
💸 Double Scoop in a cup: $9
🍡Flavours tried: Ms Maple Teatime Treat + Miso Sexy
...
Butterknife Folk rotates the flavours quite frequently as everything is one pan only and once it’s finished you’ll never know what comes next🧐
...
Super excited to share the flavours I’ve tried this time!! Ms Maple Teatime Treat was strongly recommended to us and is essentially toasted white chocolate with balsamic strawberry whereas Miso Sexy is a white miso gelato with generous sprinkles of caramelized black sesame brittle!! When they say generous sprinkles, it is REALLY generous and you could taste the strong black sesame taste in almost every bite🤩 Really glad that I gave this place a second shot because the flavours they had the previous time didn’t exactly make me go ‘wow’😂

Rich, creamy, nutty and sweet - all rolled into one delightful scoop. Thoroughly enjoyed this after work treat!

Have been wanting to check out their ice cream for a while since they seem to have cool flavours. Got the King Alphonso (mango sorbet) and Black Gold (chocolate and Guinness stout) as a double scoop. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the texture of their ice cream that much as it’s softer than I prefer and not as creamy, possibly because of how they churn it and their lack of preservatives? Tom’s Palette is on the softer side compared to Udders, but this is softer than Tom’s Palette and the texture is just kind of “loose”. They had interesting flavours too but it didn’t taste that special in reality, esp with other competitors like Tom’s Palette and The Humble Scoop. Oh well!

Ever the innovators, Butterknife Folk was offering four different mooncake and tea gelato flavours for Mid Autumn Festival. We headed down on Mooncake Festival and two days after, and this was what we had the second time.

Honey Orchid Dancong (left):
A collaboration with Pekoe Imp, this tea gelato flavour is incredibly aromatic. The roasted oolong flavour comes out very nicely and it’s not too sweet at all. It’s not as decadent as the other flavours, and is not only a great tea pairing to go with the mooncake flavours, but versatile enough to pair with almost any flavour offered.

Kaya Toast (middle):
A local favourite made into gelato form and Butterknife Folk have indeed done a masterful job. There’s generous green swirls of Kaya in the gelato, as well as crispy pieces of toast that are almost crouton-like. I really really love this flavour, as well as the texture contrast in the creamy gelato and crunchy toast bits. You have to try this one to appreciate how good it is!

Teochew Flaky Yam Mooncake (right):
A festive offering that comes only once a year - this flavour is sure to satisfy those who love this pastry, and those who love yam. The taste of yam isn’t overpowering, but it’s just strong enough to make itself known. The flaky pastry isn’t quite so flaky anymore, but still provides a light crispy texture when bitten into. If you like yam but didn’t quite like the Orh Nee flavour on rotation here a while back because of the shallot oil aroma, be glad to know that you won’t get any of that here at all. However, you’ll probably have to wait till next year to get your hands on it when mooncake festival comes round.

Got the kopi gao ice cream 🍦☕️ indeed super intense taste & aroma

In celebration of Singapore's 54th birthday, @butterknifefolk has come up with a whole range of interesting flavours✨ .

The flavours are interesting in the way that you wouldn't usually see them in ice cream form, such as laksa, chilli crab, chicken rice, muah chee etc, but the names pretty much speak for themselves 😹

I was pretty sh00ked especially when i tried the chicken rice because... was i eating dessert or a legit meal??🤔 .

As much as i enjoyed the novelty of sampling the different flavours, i eventually settled for the less adventurous Gula Melaka Pandan Cake, which had generous bits of fluffy pandan chiffon rolled within the gula melaka flavoured ice cream. I loved how the ice cream wasn't too sweet for me😊
