One of the more popular teochew porridge in SG, is located near Bukit Merah View Hawker.

Wide variety of dishes to choose from. The fish looks damn good to be honest, regret not ordering it, looking on with envy at the other tables eating it.

Fish cake was surprisingly the best dish I had today, the braised pork belly was also good.

But The chilli clams were a little pinkish(half cooked) and the anchovies were not salty at all, a bit tasteless. So will avoid these two dishes in future.

I will return for the fish!

Teochew porridge shop that serves the usual comfort food at a reasonable price even past midnight till 4 am. They offer an extensive range of dishes that satisfy almost anyone and everyone. Porridge is served hot with average and simple yet comforting dishes 》$9.70

Without a doubt one of the best porridge place in Singapore. Humongous number of different side dishes to choose from. Not the cheapest but still worth the price and the queue. Especially like the braised pork and the steamed fish cake. Sichuan vegetable and otah were also on point. Can skip the blanched sotong and La La, both were a bit tough and chewy.

My new go to place for Teochew Porridge.

This time I tried their large intestine, pig skin, braised minced pork tofu and vegetables.
I really like their large intestine, it's clean, bouncy and still chewy.

I’m really, really annoyed that the two of the most acclaimed Teochew porridge places are both in the west, which means that getting those late night Teochew comfort food urges sorted is pretty damned hard. So when I happened to be in the Wild West Of Singapore at night, I immediately made the most out of that opportunity and headed straight to Ye Lai Xiang.

In all honesty, I’m glad the munchies drove me to Ye Lai Xiang, because boy I was missing out. Comforting bowls of Teochew porridge were backed up by piquant plates of Teochew comfort classics.

The braised big intestines that were thoroughly cleaned and slowly braised in a sapid sauce, and were a delish delight to down. The preserved vegetables were nicely acidic, zingy and quite literally mouthwatering. The sour qualities of the veggies got my saliva glands running at full output capacity and ready to receive all the fabulous food that was inbound to my stomach.

The meatballs were, as expected, rustic, simple yet remarkably redolent. Tender, juicy and superbly satisfying to chew on, the meatballs were a ball of a time. The ultimate winner of the night was doubtlessly the stellar otah. Large chunks of fish are suspended within the orangey-brown block of deliciousness. It was mildly spicy and remarkably rich thanks to all the coconut milk that went into its formation, and the fragrance was fantastic. Of course, the taste was even better, and each bite of otah was deliciously divine.

If you’ve been stranded in the Wild West and you’ve got the midnight munchies, fret not cause your friend Ye Lai Xiang is here to take good care of you.

Never knew Teochew muey can be this yummy until I first dined at Ye Lai Xiang. As the restaurant name goes, “fragrance when night falls”, I wondered was it because of the night rain or the strenuous exercise I did before dinner that made this so yummy! Love today’s lala (clams) - fresh and juicy in light curry; also not forgetting its very crunchy French beans that goes so well with the rice porridge!
