While the search for a cuppa comparable to Aussie coffees still continues, Carrara ain’t half bad. The cappuccino is a little more bitter than usual, but it’s offset with a stronger cocoa scent and taste. Pretty creamy and tantalizingly thick in body too.

Not half bad as a posh(er) pick me up, really.

Carrara (which is also ridiculously difficult to get the spelling right) Cafe seems hopelessly out of place in an old industrial neighborhood, but they seem to be getting on just fine. Besides the usual café fare offered, their pride seems to be their waffles, which are either very conveniently paired with artisanal gelatos, or offered up as a savory option as part of their all day breakfast.

The waffles themselves are decent, albeit rather run of the mill. A nice fluffy, eggy and slightly savory interior is encased within a mildly crispy exterior that’s nicely browned. However, when a scoop (or three) of gelato is situated on top of the waffle, that’s when the magic happens. Y’all probably know by now what happens when ice cream is fused with waffles, so I’ll just skip that part and announce that Carrara’s gula melaka gelato is enticingly enjoyable. It might be a little too sweet on its own, but when it’s married to the fluffy, fresh and hot waffle, it’s perfect. Just like that soppy Ed Sheeran song.

Blue butterfly pea flower lemongrass tea was an in-thing previously, known for its nutritiously and attractive blue hue. Carrara has creatively replicated the butterfly blue pea flower and lemongrass flavours into a gelato that is pretty and quite delicious. We also ordered the earl grey flavour, together in a single cup. Would hope to try their mains in our next visit to the cafe.

A lovely cafe in the heartlands! The place was nicely decorated and had a cosy atmosphere suitable for friend or family gatherings. The service was good as the staff greeted us with smiles whenever we ask for something.

Food was value-for-money! Ordered the Truffle Pasta, Mentaiko Pasta and Fried Chicken Waffle!! All of which were really tasty, especially recommend the truffle pasta which had really strong truffle fragrance! Must try the Lychee Osmanthus shaken ice tea too! Very unique and refreshing floral ice tea!!

Ended off the meal with their signature waffles and gelato. We finished everything even though we were already so full because it was so good!! Loved the Fresh Coconut and Osmanthus Oolong gelato which had great distinctive flavours!!

Best part is that they do not charge service charge and GST!! Great value!! Would definitely return to try more of their menu items!!

The 6-month old cafe served a pretty wide range of gelato (for such a small shop). Pretty happy with my scoop of salted caramel - smooth and creamy (it started dripping within seconds). Quite surprised with the strong savoury kick upon the first lick, but eventually the sweet caramel balanced it off. The rosemary cone was rather subtle in flavour, and could have been sliiiiightly thicker so that it wont get soggy too fast.

First time trying after friends recommended. Chicken was pretty tasty and juicy. Some parts were a little burnt though. Good value for money. Finished everything including all the sides. Desserts next time I guess haha
