Had a craving for steak this noon. So, thought Iā€™d give CarversX a try. Decided to try their Carvers Ribeye (220g), and without sauce. Personally, I prefer to have my steak with salt and pepper, particularly salt as it brings out the taste of the steak (beef); whereas the sauces actually camouflages the steak and all one is tasting is the sauce.

Iā€™d say the steak is decent - done just right (medium), not overly done, so the meat is still rather tender. Plus, it has a right amount flavour (sufficiently seasoned with salt).

The Carvers Meatball Sandwich ($16) serves @omnipork meatballs dipped in black pepper sauce in a banh mi-style bun with greens and a side of fries. As a heavy meat consumer, I can sort of tell this is not meat due to the overall texture, but yet somehow I don't really mind; when you have every component together, it still more or less manages to feel like a complete sub which I quite enjoyed!

The Carvers Xtreme Meatballs ($16) serves cheese-stuffed meatballs using a 'Meat Alternative' pork product from @beyondmeat over mashed potatoes, cream sauce and greens. I do feel that when the meatballs are stuffed, it does feel a little more convincing. Flavours can be further experimented with this though as I felt the seasoning could do with a bit more flavour. Despite that, the meatballs go great with the mash! šŸ˜

As an event-only special, I got to try a Meatball Burger which makes use of @omnipork patties as well. A shame it is not on the menu, because the meatballs here definitely stood out the most with their tangy and savoury flavour, coming the closest to what I'd expect of the real deal. Perhaps a recipe for the future? šŸ˜Œ

With more F&B concepts, especially meat-heavy ones like CarversX (Asia Square 1 Food Garden, Bayfront) introducing vegan-friendly options, this allows for more inclusivity for our vegan friends and flexibility in dining out with a mixed group of vegans and meat consumers!

With the launch of Green Monday, a social venture to promote a healthy and green lifestyle thatā€™s based in Hong Kong, Omnipork meatballs are introduced to @carvers_x ā€˜s menu from 22nd November onwards featuring:
1ļøāƒ£Carvers Xtreme Meatballs [$16]
Cheese stuffed ā€œmeatballsā€ served on a bed of creamy mash, cream sauce and fresh vegetables. These vegan meatballs does bear a high resemblance in texture to your usual pork meatballs, but of course lacking the characteristic gamey flavour and juiciness, with a distinct soya flavour instead. Personally felt that the cheese could have been more prominent as the meatballs felt rather dry when eaten in silo. Fortunately, pairing with the cream sauce and smooth, creamy mash did help to alleviate the dryness. Would also prefer if there were more marination to these ā€˜meatballsā€™ which seems to lack flavour imo, perhaps addition of more herbs and spices would be great as well.
2ļøāƒ£Carvers Meatball Xandwich [$16]
Differing from the meatballs in 1ļøāƒ£, the ones here are dipped in black pepper sauce, coming with a peppery flavour and a fragrant tinge of spice. Sandwiched between a Bahn Mi style bun, thereā€™s also shredded vegetables and diced onions within, which added a pleasant crunch factor to the toasted, pillow baguette. Topped with vegan cheese, this sandwich is also served with a side of crisp and well-seasoned fries. Portion is pretty huge and filling for one too!
3ļøāƒ£ Meatball burger: Launched exclusively for the Green Monday event and hence not available for sale, the ā€˜meatballsā€™ here are my personal favourite among the 3 variations, one that comes with greater marination and seasoning thatā€™s tangy and flavourful for the palate .

Look at that thicc slab of chicken chop, fried to perfection. Together with pasta salad and onion rings for $8.90, it's a must for any indulgent day :)
