Both the prata and thosai were competently done. But if I had to choose between the two, the prata is definitely the star. It's not overly greasy, and is perfectly crisp on the outside while retaining a fluffy layered interior.

I don't doubt that there's probably going to be better thosais out there, but Casuarina's will always have a special place in my heart. It was their version that got me acquainted to the dish for the very first time, and I've been hooked ever since. This was my first time dining at this outlet, and it seems that this was made even better here than I remembered! Thin and crispy, while not overly greasy and apparent with that lovely tang that I love. My favourite way to consume is to first mix a little of the coconut chutney into their curry sauce, tear off a piece of the thosai and use it as an edible spoon to scoop a generous amount of the chutney mixture. Using hands, of course. ;)
I truly hope that this outlet will deliver in consistency because I foresee myself coming back for more often!!

I'm always a skeptic when it comes to prata because my judgmental index is very high (πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ). But was having mad cravings so, bo pianπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ. My regular order of plain prata was a little tasteless. Texturally it was on the denser side and was very crisp - if you like that sort. The curry also didn't have much of the tangy tastiness that one would expect from a fish curry.

Overall, it was kinda meh.

I have heard so much about casuarina curry but since Indian food hasn't been a natural choice for me and Sembawang was a little far out to travel, casuarina curry remained as one of the to - try places for the longest time .
I was craving for some spice this evening and decided to try casuarina curry at their sixth avenue outlet. I wanted something that was non Greasy and opted for the masala thosai , which is like a crepe , only with a stiffer texture and an added tinge of sour ( from the rice flour which it is made from). The masala thosai was filled with well seasoned potatoes and spices and served with a side of dhal , sambal and a coconut ginger garlic sauce. I loved how healthy and clean the masala thosai tasted and how the dhal nicely complemented the thosai. The thosai is best eaten on site and eaten warm as it tends to stiffen as it cools. At SGD 3.20 , I must say that portions are generous. Service is also excellent as the waiters took time to explain the difference between a masala thosai and a paper masala. Learnt something new today :)

The gravy for the chicken was my fave part. It had shallots in it which added a really nice fragrance to the curry. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that the curries here would do better with a little more heat in them, but the depth of flavour won me over. The rice was delicately spiced and very fluffy, and the portion of chicken (the breast meat might be a tad dry) was more than enough. If you prefer something more tender, you need to get the mutton briyani which is so soft and comes in an equally flavourful curry. Try the mutton murtabak as well!
