The dal makhani comes with garlic naan. The dal was really fragrant and flavourful. Nothing outstanding though.

The kebabs were really tender. That with the onions drizzled with lime juice, perfect. Wish they gave more onions though.

A change from the usual squid ink pasta. It comes with soft shell crab too.

So you get squid ink rice fried with chopped long beans. The rice was a bit mushy for me. It also doesn’t have much taste, probably needs to be eaten together with the soft shell crab. There was also a fried egg, which wasn’t the usual type that you get. This one is kinda tiny. Not sure I would have this a 2nd time.

The talented team behind Kenny Hills Bakers take on Vietnamese, Thai and French-inspired cooking in this new stylish concept at Republik. Lunch specials (from 11am to 3pm) range from elevated classics from the Nam Signature Roast Duck Rice (RM28) to the Grilled Chicken Banh Mi (RM24) and the no-fail Nam Beef Pho (from RM30) with choice of black Angus ribeye or beef short ribs. The night brings out French flavours that are great for sharing — think Foie Gras Parfait (RM46) and a tender Tamarind Braised Beef Cheeks (RM58) served with kale and orange and carrot puree. End it all off on a sweet note with their traditional Crepe Suzette (RM28) doused in caramelised orange butter and housemade vanilla ice cream.

It doesn’t end there, they serve other mains that were as delicious too and would care to explain the difference between each cut. Next try for me would be their Wagyu Tomahawk 😍 •

Bookmark this stunning restaurant for special occasions with your loved one. Word on the street is that it's owned by the same peeps behind Merchant's Lane, so trust that you're in good hands! Start with the umami-packed Assam Unagi, Nori, Sushi Rice (RM32), which Burppler jionghui lim enjoyed the crunchy seaweed wrap with unagi. Another delicious option to share is the Mapo Tou Fu, Nachos (RM26) – think creamy mapo tofu to replace guac. On mains, dive straight for the Shao Xing Mussel, Prawn, Squid (RM42) served with Hainanese bread for dipping. Cap off the meal with some wine from RM30 a glass.

This is one of the best and exquisite eggplant dish I’ve had. Jasper-grilled whole Australian eggplant topped with saikyo miso cream, pistachio dukkha and lime at the side. The Kyoto white miso cream enhance the flavour in the soft eggplant and the pistachios gives more texture to it. RM32 per serving.

Escargots serve in a croquette form is a first for me. Entier’s interpretation of escargot à la Bourguignonne, sphère crispy potato dip with herbs garlic butter or aioli sauce. The land snails doesn’t really has taste in general and it does taste bland if eaten alone in the croquettes. RM38 per serving.

If you’re on a carb free diet, this is probably not your thing. But if you like fresh loaf like me, it is worth breaking the rules. Soft fluffy sourdough with a good crisp on the outer layer pair with their housemade Kombu Butter.
