A comforting bowl of nourishing pork rib soup with herbal flavours.

This Bak Kut Teh is not your usual peppery kind, but rather specialise in herbal taste. It kinda reminds me of Ten Wonder Soup due to its similar colour and taste. The soup itself is herby sweet, and each bite of the smooth, tender meat easily peels off the bone. While there's nothing particularly special about it, it's a satisfying option for a hearty meal.

To accompany the meal, added a small bowl of salted veg to try for an additional $1. However, I found it to be a bit too sharp and sourish, lacking the savoury kick I was hoping for, although the texture is soft and crunchy. Oh... The white rice costs $0.50.

Quite lean, balance of sweet and salty braise and rather mild

Absolutely smashing as ever. So tender and perfectly textured with strong clean umami from the dried shrimps. Not to mention they have daylily

Delicious. Well braised and full of flavour, with mushrooms as well

This was brilliant. They're the first stall I see that undercooks the innards for takeaway and separates the boiling soup for you to finish the innards in. They're all perfectly cooked once you dunk it into the hot soup for awhile

Never really got the chance to visit their main branch at Rangoon Road, so I’m pretty excited to find out that they opened a new branch in city centre; which is very close to my office.

So made my way here at night to grab some dinner with their signature bak kut teh.

A very peppery style but I find the first serving was too overwhelming with the peppery taste. But after getting the soup to be refilled, it finally tasted better.

There’s been a few Bak Kut Teh places at the area, they certainly adding to the competitive of Singapore style bak kut teh with the rest.

Established in 1963, this brand serves up an unconventional cloudy broth that sits in the middle of the spectrum, with savoury salty peppery spice garlicky herbal earthy sweet flavour.
.
The pork ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and soft, with meaty savoury sweet flavour. The crunchy preserved mustard greens / meigan cai / mei cai carry vegetal sour salty earthy spice flavour, pairing well with the fluffy soft steamed white rice with grainy sweet flavour.
.
While they could be more generous with the crisp fried dough fritters / you tiao, I liked the soft soy braised hard-boiled egg with eggy sweet flavour, and the spongy soft soy braised tau pok / dried tofu puff with grainy salty sweet herbal flavour.
.
A star here is their soy braised pork trotter, equal parts lean and fatty, coming easily off the bone. With chewy gelatinous wobbly texture and bold meaty salty herbal sweet savoury fatty flavour, this was incredibly satisfying.

Meh. The organs weren't good enough, stick to their pork ribs

We had dinner at eight, but still a lot of customers. Back Kut Keh is very delicious, but the essence is soup. It could be added to unlimited. Totally $18 per pax, reasonable price!

BKT served in claypot and piping hot herbal broth. I ordered the claypot bak kut teh with enoki and rice set that came with pork ribs, lettuce, button mushrooms, tau pok and enoki cooked and served in claypot. The pork ribs were tender and fall off the bone easily. I find the herbal flavour of broth too subtle and light for my taste buds and definitely not for those who are used to the strong herbal flavoured broth. The broth is also not overly salty which may be a hit for the folks who prefer something clean and light.

The pig trotters were well-braised and flavourful. The meat was so tender that it fell apart easily using chopsticks. I also add on a portion of tau kee (beancurd skin) soaked in a salty braising liquid that makes it the perfect combination with white rice.

Claypot BKT + Enoki + Rice 》$7.70
Braised Pig Trotter 》$5
Tau Kee 》$1.20
