The Chicken Pots come in three sizes - small, medium & large. The small one costs $20 and is valid for Burpple Beyond redemption - yay!

Just a look at the Numbing & Fiery pot and you can tell it’s gonna be numbing with those generous stalks of peppercorns. We opted for the 小辣 as we weren’t sure how hot it would be, and didn’t want to unknowingly torture our stomachs at 10pm. Turns out we needn’t have worried about the spiciness, because the numbing taste was what we should’ve looked out for.

The portion in the small pot was pretty good for one person and it was very cheap with the 1 for 1 redemption. There’s only chicken in the pot, but it’s tender and super flavourful. You can add on ingredients to cook (you can DIY or ask the staff to put it in directly when serving), which soaks up the amazing flavours. Would recommend putting in some beancurd skin especially if you love ma la cos it soaks up the taste pretty well! It’s worth noting that the service here is great - friendly, super attentive and helpful, they even switched to English when conversing when we had confused faces on. Would totally go back to Fat Bird not just for their hotpots, but for their Main Dishes too!

There are four signature flavours eligible for Burpple Beyond Chicken Pot redemption and this is one of them. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, yet want something full of savoury flavour, this would be a good choice.

I’ve tried a handful of chicken pots, and I would say this is the best I’ve had so far. The sauce is thick, fragrant and well balanced. It’s definitely not too salty, even if you eat it without rice. The portions of chicken in the small pot are good enough for 1 person, but you can always add more ingredients if you like. I particularly liked adding beancurd skin inside this pot to cook and soak up the savoury gravy.

Preferred having this pot ‘to go long’ over the ma la flavour, but it was nice to have the Numbing & Fiery chicken after a few bites of the House Special for that sudden punch of spice. Both of them make a good combination to order with Burpple Beyond!

Just one of the add-on ingredients available at Fat Bird for the Chicken Pot. Kind of wish they would serve the add-ons as a pick as many varieties as you wish (chargeable by weight) or in half portions like HDL as they’re pretty sizeable and you can’t order that many unless you have a large group (the size does justify the price of $3.80 a dish though).

We were looking for some vegetables to supplement our protein-rich chicken pot meal, and decided to order the Hand Torn Cabbage as it was one of the recommended dishes on the menu.

And wow. This dish just blew me away. I actually enjoyed this way more than the chicken pot. It took a while longer to cook and serve the vegetables, but it’s totally worth it. The cabbage is fried to perfection with soy sauce, garlic and dried chillies. It was bursting with smoky wok hei aroma that could rival and probably beat many zhi char restaurants. This is a MUST ORDER dish at Fat Bird in my books!

This is a Main Dish at Fat Bird which is also eligible for Burpple Beyond redemption.

Walked up and down Liang Seah street, aka steamboat street now 😂, before finally settling with this place! They have an ala carte option as well but we went for the standard 90 minutes buffet (they’re quite strict during peak hours). If I didn’t remember wrongly, the premium buffet is around $32++, but it looks more worth if you take beef - we saw many tables ordering plates and plates of them! The trio soup base is an additional $8 top up per table with their mushroom base as a default. We went for tomato and ma la for the other two.

They have a good range of veg, seafood, etc. that is available for you to take, while their fish and meats are prepared on order. Ingredients were all pretty fresh I must say! Ma la broth was drinkable and the mushroom base was comforting.

Overall it’s affordable for its variety plus free flow drinks and ice cream, but it got really stuffy after awhile. Ventilation inside is not the best, it might be cooler sitting outside if you’re coming for dinner! Weekdays’ pricing per pax is $25.80++.

Some MLXGs disappoint, for some half the journey is too much to bear. Fat Bird has a MLXG that doesn’t give up on you. It’s the perfect amount of spice and numbness, and additional flavouring (not sure where that comes from) which is unique as most MLXGs lacks in different areas, especially the flavour when it all boils down to it, literally.

The whiff of Benedictine DOM vanished almost as quickly as it appeared, not unlike a track-and-field pontianak in a frangipani boulevard or money in my bank account due to the flurry of hotel openings in the past few months, while elsewhere the pork shows the crab meat who is really in charge. 3.4/5

Was looking forward to dinner here but was completely disappointed with the quality of ALL dishes served to my table. It began with...

1. Hotpot Chicken Stew with Pig’s Stomach 豬肚湯
Tased bland and diluted, even after ordering condiments like tofu, mushrooms, vegetables, beef (wasnt ribeye as stated in the menu) and pork slices. Was much less herb-y than when I last visited 9 months ago.

2. Salted Egg Squid
Flavour just was not right, entire dish tasted like breaded fried squid and nothing more.

3. Salted Egg Fish Skin
Even though the fish skin was crispy, the salted egg flavour just did not hit the spot.

4. Tomato Fried Eggs
Average, considered the best among the other dishes that was presented

Was on a buffet meal, but the lacklustre dishes was so disheartening that I refrained from ordering more.

Will not patronise again.
