Got the chance to try out Tai Loke Hainan Chicken Rice given how the places in the area were seemingly filled post-CNY and that there was still some seats available at this coffee shop. In all honesty, the rice and chili do not really seem to be the main focus here; the former being on the edge of being a little mushy and could have been more flavourful, while the latter just lacked that punchy tang from calamansi. That being said, the chicken was pretty succulent and tender; thoughtfully de-boned and silky smooth β all drenched in that lightly savoury soy sauce which provides just enough flavour.
Tender chicken meat served on the side, fluffy fragrant rice added sweet dark sauce & bowl of clear soup.
($3.50)
Simple meal.
I remember this place used to be along upp changi road which was then my turf and I had this most of the time during my childhood days.. fast forward till today and having tasted it after so many years has pass, I can still say it does bring back memories of my childhood..π±π½ββοΈ

Saw a long queue for this opposite Bugis+ and thought why not. I got the thigh off their last chicken (it wasnβt even 1pm) and it was smooth and tender though I would have preferred it deboned. The rice was decent but didnβt have that nice bite or as much flavour as Iβd hoped for. From the queues, it really seems like the chicken is the draw for the lunch crowd.
Below $7 for a set served with your choice of vegetables, it was pretty value for money considering its location and air-conditioned setting.
Was at bugis today and decided to try this outlet. This was my first time dining here and I am super disgusted by the food served here. I ordered a chicken rice set and the chicken was filled with blood and uncooked. Complained to the chinese waitress and she was very unhappy and walked away without acknowledging. It was only when we called her back again she said the most i gave u one more plate of chicken. We were very shocked by the service standards. How could you serve such uncooked chicken filled with blood especially the chef who was chopping the chicken would have seen the redness.
Do not try. Bad service.
I was hungry and ordered the house down... #ChuenChuen #chickenlice #roast #drumsticks #taugeh #rawfish #burp #lunch
This place is supposed to be famous for their chicken rice but I personally feel there is nothing special about it. They also have some zi char dishes which are not terrific but will do for a quick and economical meal.
I'll try their curry fish head the next time around! It's just right next to the famous fish steamboat on tan quee lan street. Food was good and affordable too!
Each piece comes succulent and plump, and even the breast meat came surprisingly tender without being dry and rough. Soy sauce flavours were also being absorbed into the meat so it was indeed flavourful and delicious
