Back here to dine on the $17.90+ all-you-can-eat Korean Chicken plus BBQ Buffet excluding drinks. ๐๐ฅ There's a strict 90-minute dining policy in place and a minimum of 2 pax. The buffet spread is basic, consisting of meats, fish, and sides.
The marination on the meats was decent, and the lettuce remained fresh, which was great. The other banchan were refreshing too. The Korean fried chicken, available in original, sweet soy, and spicy flavours, stood out with its crunchy skin and steaming hot interior, tasted like KFC chicken. ๐ I like the spicy one the most.

Chose this restaurant to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Really homely and friendly atmosphere. Wanted to get the BBQ grills but they were abit too pricey so we settled for the Tteok-Galbi sets, both Beef ($44.90) and Pork ($38.90). These were 2 patties atop a bed of onions and sweet potatoes, served with a side of Mini Beef Doenjang Jigae and Mini Pork Kimchi Jigae respectively. The patties were thick and juicy and nicely-seasoned, but do dip it in the gochujang sauce for some variety of flavour. The Seafood Kimchi Pancake ($28) came in a huge portion and we really loved the crispiness. Decent portions of squid and prawns within too! Finally, finished off with the Makgeolli ($25) which came in a metal tub and a ladle which I think is how it is traditionally served, enough for maybe 7 or 8 servings. Overall, had a good time here and would return to splurge on their BBQ meat sets.
Seafood sundubu jjigae (+$3 with set; alacarte $18.90) had rich seafood aroma and kick of spice, and generous assortment of fresh seafood. One of the better ones around
Famed for their 3-step hotstone grilling: ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ, ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ค๐ฉ, ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ฆฬ. Exciting to get front row seats to the process ๐ฅ and enjoyed the delicious seared, succulent, and juicy meats.
Would recommend big groups to share the Triple-meat combo ($65) including pork, chicken, and beef, a choice of soup, and umami seaweed rice. Seafood sundubu jjigae (+$3 with set; alacarte $18.90) had rich seafood aroma and kick of spice, and generous assortment of fresh seafood.
Unagi was quite small in portion. Mentai tamago combi is ๐๐ป. Snow crab pasta taste like chilli crab sauce w lots of meat
I am probably not the only one confused but there is actually not one but two Korean restaurants by the name of "Myung Ga" in the Bukit Timah area. I usually frequent Myung Ga II at Bukit Timah Plaza but it was closed the night I visited so I decided to check out Myung Ga III at Beauty World instead.
According to the wait staff, Myung Ga II and III are separate restaurants whose owners are friends. They aren't related but have similar (if not the same) menu.
The good is rather similar. The tonkatsu is huuuuuuge as with all Korean style tonkatsus with a nice sweet sauce. I ordered a takeaway which was probably why the pork cutlet came in pieces instead of one huge slab. The meat was well marinated and the crust shattering crisp. I do prefer Myung Ga II's version because it was a little more tender and juicy but it might just be because I had their tonkatsu fresh instead of sitting in a box for the 45 minutes drive home.
I do want to know though... Is there a Myung Ga I?!?
Unusual in that most meats are pork and not beef. Excellent BBQ , although other dishes are good too. Outstanding service. Tables are a bit small for parties of 6.
Beef lovers, like myself, would definitely enjoy their Beef Short Rib ($32.80) sotbap. Tender and so well-marinated, the Australia Beef Short Rib tasted premium, especially with my choice of fluffy five-grain rice. Said to be flavoured with Korean pear and soy sauce (sweet and savoury), the protein was grilled perfectly will some charred edges to the succulent cut. Topped with a beautiful luscious egg yolk, the pot also contained roasted sesame seeds, chopped spring onions, gingko nuts and plenty of mushrooms. So good even without the accompanying sauce.
Exceeding my expectations, Sagyeโs Lunch menu was great (psst, much better than the previous one I reviewed, in my opinion). Available only between 11.30am to 3pm (their last order at 2.30pm), the Korean Pot Rice sets were of good value, each coming with a soup of the day (on the day we had a mildly spicy kimchi tofu soup)ย and side dishes.
The Pork ($21.80) sotbap was well-executed and had a chockful of ingredients. With a little more charred flavour, the grilled Pork collar and Pork rib was like a classic done right - deliciously textured with a slightly fatty chew. Nicely flavoured, the toothsome pork was wonderfully balanced with the bed of Japanese rice with cubes of sweet potatoes and ginkgo nuts. The addition of deeply earthy Korean bracken (gosari) was a fantastic touch too. A hearty, comforting choice.
