the bowl is hugeee and the fish is fresh and plump! personally prefer the fried fish because there is more flavour. we got the MIXED FISH SOUP ($11), and EGG W PRAWN ($9.80) which was mid. just get the fish soup

Went to Chef China 2 weeks ago and ordered the Pickled Chinese Sauerkraut Fish, Sweet and Sour Pork, Fried Shredded Poratoes, Several Skewers such as Chicken, Beef, Sausage, Oyster Mushroom, Squid, Tin Foiled Enoki Mushrooms and Lala, and some drinks (Total ~$163 for 4 pax)!😇

Overall ratings 8/10! Food is good, not too pricey😁 Highly recommend the Pickled Fish, Chicken Skewers and Tin Foiled Enoki Mushrooms😍 Would visit again to try other dishes too!

the rice cakes were sooo soft and chewy! loved how it contrasted w the slightly crunchy brown sugar coating 🤤 the best i’ve had in sg so far

they had a huge variety of skewers! we tried the mutton kebab ($2.60), beef skewers ($2.40), roast pork skewers ($2.00), grilled sauteed mushrooms ($3.00), and grilled shitake mushrooms ($3.00). they put your skewers on top of your own mini stone grill to keep them warm which i thought was rly nice. i loved the mutton kebabs and pork skewers the most! they were seasoned rly well and the meat was so tender. the mushroom skewers (not pictured) tasted weird though, they were kinda sweet which didn’t go well w the mushroom flavour at all. would give their mushrooms a miss but the meat skewers are definitely worth a try

i love this kind of tofu! it was perfectly fried on the outside and soft on the inside

we chose their signature vine petter pot base and their original soup base. i rly enjoyed both soup bases! the signature base was spicy (but not overwhelming, still v drinkable) and comforting, quite similar to a mala tang. the original one tasted like a collagen broth and was vvv rich and flavourful. unfortunately when we asked for a refill of soup they poured the signature soup refill into our original soup pot so the taste of the original soup was ruined :( rly wish we could have had more sighz. that aside, the fish was vv soft and delicious, and i liked that they gave thick slices of fish so that it wouldn’t get lost in the soup. A+ for presentation too the pot was in the shape of a heart and they put some dry ice below the fish platter so that it would be all smoky!

Finally tried this popular eatery selling fresh clams dishes, but sadly we didn't like them too much.

The Power Drunken Lala Soup ($8.90) sadly did not live up to our expectations. The Chinese wine taste wasn't strong enough and though the broth had the sweetness from the clams, we found it rather one dimensional. The clams were fresh but rather small.

The Vongole ($10.90) may be garlicky, but it was really cloying and the cream taste wasn't of a quality one.

Luckily, the dishes were not too expensive and had rather large portions. I guess this is just a one time try for us 🥲

@wawasg is renowned for their lala (Venus clam) beehoon, but I was in the mood for rice, and fortunately they delivered with their Fresh Clams In Signature Homemade Garlic Butter Sauce With Tasty Rice ($10.90 nett). Another claim to fame for Wawa is that all of the clams they cook are picked straight out of the seawater tank that splits the kitchen from the dining area right before cooking, ensuring maximum freshness.⠀

These clams were indeed fantastically fresh, with a slight sweetness and that charmingly chewy texture lala is so beloved for proving its freshness. The garlic butter sauce was delightfully creamy, thick & amply garlicky, but there was a pervasive note of bitterness throughout that indicated an undercooking of the garlic, or perhaps something fundamentally wrong with the sauce. It did undermine my enjoyment somewhat, and I hope it’s a one off. ⠀

As for the mountain of tasty rice, it lived up to its name and then some. The short grain rice was fluffy and appetisingly aromatic, absorbing the best elements of the cabbage, mushroom & yam bits, as well as the secret seasonings added in before steaming. There was a generous helping of the tasty rice and an acceptable amount of clams, but for $10.90 people would rightly expect more. Perhaps they could buff up this dish by including a side of simple vegetables to the mix.⠀

Overall, Wawa Lala Beehoon is aight, but nothing particularly special. Perhaps their lala beehoon is truly special, and I’ll probably be back to try that before handing down my final verdict.

Coming here of course you must get their signature fish steamboat, it was so comforting especially having it during raining season.

Available in different portions, so you can go with bigger one if you comes in group.

If you are someone who love having fish head, I believe you would love this. They still comes with generous meat with the bones.

Tasty soup broth with lots of ingredients. They also provide refill of the soup.

Another dishes we gotten is this juicy pork ribs with coffee sauce. There’s only a little hint of coffee taste but not really very obvious as you eat.

This place is so popular that I always seeing long queue in front of the shop, and finally have the chance to visit during this raining season and luckily the queue wasn’t long.

A decent spot for some zhi char dishes to go with their signature fish steamboat.

The pickled radish beancurd is soft and full with flavour. Topped with generous pickled radish.

Went to Tanyu and ordered their Grilled Limbo Fish with Fresh Green Peppers, Golden Combination, Grilled Eggplant, Double Taste Rice Cake, and Rice! Total amounts to about $30/pax and this can feed about 3-4 people😄

Overall ratings 8/10! The soup base is medium spicy but tasty, food quality here is also great👍🏻 Would definitely head back again
