The plate is generously filled with the peanut sauce, covering up the vermicelli. We got the middle size portion at $5 and ingredients includes kang kong, cuttlefish, prawns, cockles, sliced pork, and tau pok.

The type of prawns was translucent and I preferred the usual pink with red tails prawns that I usually had.

The thick and savoury satay sauce was adequate to cover every strand of Bee Hoon. In fact, it blends in well and was not very spicy.

Although Satay Bee Hoon may seem to be a simple and straightforward dish, the preparation of peanut sauce from scratch is laborious as one has to dry roast the peanuts first then cook with sauce over a long time.

Long time since I'm back. Still possibly the best satay beehoon around. Sauce was rich and cuttlefish was most tender. This is small size and it's kinda small, but it's a rock concert in your mouth lol.

Decided to try Centre Satay bee hoon at 724 Ang Mo Kio.
The bee hoon served with rich peanut sauce, slightly spicy and ingredients like cockles, cuttlefish, prawns and pork slices.

A stone's throw away from Ang Mo Kio MRT Station, Centre Satay Bee Hoon is a highly frequented spot by residents in the area, and its displayed list of accolades is enough to justify the queues. Thankfully, service is fast and the line moves quickly. There are only two items on the menu โ€” Satay Bee Hoon (from $3.50) that comes with peanut gravy, and Cuttlefish Kang Kong (from $3.50) that comes with a sweet sauce. The former sees soft rice vermicelli, tau pok, prawns, cockles, cuttlefish and kang kong covered in a luscious, made-from-scratch peanut sauce. Tastemaker Irene Arieputri loves how "the thick satay gravy, with lots of peanut bits, evenly coats every strand of the bee hoon", so much so, she claims that "this rendition is definitely one of those that made me a convert!"

Presented with a generous plate of gravy soaked Satay Bee Hoon ($4.50 Medium Portion), I can only guess the effort put in to achieve that smooth, thick and nutty sauce.

My second ever attempt at having satay bee hoon cause of my low spice tolerance (mine is literally zero), the distinct gravy was surprisingly the highlight for me as the viscosity was just right - not too grainy and the pleasant earthy roasted-flavour in every mouthful.

In all its spicy-sweet glory, the ingredients smothered underneath are certainly worth a mention as well. The springy rice vermicelli and tau pok soaked up all the goodness while the kang kong as well as cuttlefish provided a crunchy bite. The prawns and (miniscule) cockles were also fresh. Giving it a good mix, be sure to coat everything nicely with their homemade peanut sauce.
