πŸ˜‹ Satay Beehoon!!!!! A heaping mess of sauce and lots of cuttlefish and kangkong vegetable and cockles and one prawn lol hugging bee hoon 😍 and Cuttlefish Kang Kong with achar and a lot of grounded peanuts woooooo. @dareren doesn't like both dishes very much (dk how it's possible OMG it's like disliking hello kitty and unicorns 😱) but he still pei me eat for dinner hehe!! ❀ #dqky #burpple

A stone's throw away from Ang Mo Kio MRT Station, Centre Satay Bee Hoon is a highly frequented spot by residents in the area, and its displayed list of accolades is enough to justify the queues. Thankfully, service is fast and the line moves quickly. There are only two items on the menu β€” Satay Bee Hoon (from $3.50) that comes with peanut gravy, and Cuttlefish Kang Kong (from $3.50) that comes with a sweet sauce. The former sees soft rice vermicelli, tau pok, prawns, cockles, cuttlefish and kang kong covered in a luscious, made-from-scratch peanut sauce. Tastemaker Irene Arieputri loves how "the thick satay gravy, with lots of peanut bits, evenly coats every strand of the bee hoon", so much so, she claims that "this rendition is definitely one of those that made me a convert!"

Presented with a generous plate of gravy soaked Satay Bee Hoon ($4.50 Medium Portion), I can only guess the effort put in to achieve that smooth, thick and nutty sauce.

My second ever attempt at having satay bee hoon cause of my low spice tolerance (mine is literally zero), the distinct gravy was surprisingly the highlight for me as the viscosity was just right - not too grainy and the pleasant earthy roasted-flavour in every mouthful.

In all its spicy-sweet glory, the ingredients smothered underneath are certainly worth a mention as well. The springy rice vermicelli and tau pok soaked up all the goodness while the kang kong as well as cuttlefish provided a crunchy bite. The prawns and (miniscule) cockles were also fresh. Giving it a good mix, be sure to coat everything nicely with their homemade peanut sauce.

Not a big fan of satay bee hoon but this is a pretty good one I must say. The thick satay gravy, with lots of peanut bits, evenly coated every strand of the bee hoon. Besides the generous ingredients, the bee hoon itself was moist unlike those satay bee hoon I've tried elsewhere, where the gravy and bee hoon didn't "blend" well. This rendition was definitely one of those that made me a convert, and this time round, it's for satay bee hoon πŸ˜›

Prices are at $3.50/$4.50 a plate. This plate of Satay Bee Hoon ($3.50) has increased its prices over the years, but the food still tastes as delicious. The satay gravy is thick and plentiful, it goes very well with the bee hoon. There is a lot of cuttlefish, kangkong, tau pok, prawns and meat to go along with the bee hoon so you will be tempted to finish the gravy to the last scoop!

Not too bad, but rather small quantity (this was already the larger size). Probably not worth the trip unless you live nearby.
