It does seem that there is quite a bit of change going on in Orchard Central / orchardgateway for 2026 — while there is much anticipation going around for the opening of the very first Molly Tea outlet in Singapore sometime scheduled in February 2026, there is also a Chan Susu 陳蘇蘇 1994 that has taken over the former premises of the now-defunct Island Noodle there (some will recall this unit being once occupied by Chunky Lobsters as well). Chan Susu 1994 describes itself as an establishment that serves up “Singapore Modern Handcrafted Chinese desserts”; there also seems to be quite an emphasis being placed on the use of Fresh Farm Water Buffalo Milk in its offerings as well. The menu at Chan Susu is split into sections dedicated to Signature Grand Bowl, Snack Series, Susu Handmade Desserts and Mains.
Skimming through the menu at Chan Susu, we found ourselves going for the 100% Natural Pistachio Paste that is an item that is listed under the Susu Handmade Desserts section of the menu. Much like the other pistachio pastes that we have chanced upon from other similar establishments, Chan Susu’s 100% Natural Pistachio Paste is served in a small bowl and comes with a totally green aesthetic. Amongst the various pistachio pastes that we have tried, the 100% Natural Pistachio Paste here is probably our favourite in both flavours and texture; we liked how the consistency of the 100% Natural Pistachio Paste was pretty thick and gloopy; something similar to that of some almond pastes and black sesame pastes out there — it also does come with a pretty evident hint of nuttiness of pistachios that didn’t taste particularly artificial whilst being suitably sweet as well.
