Somewhere I had been wanting to revisit for a while, now located at Helios, Biopolis in a bigger shop space as compared to their Chromos, Biopolis shop. At $13.00, this is probably one of the cheapest Porchetta you can get; a considerable tender slab of roast pork that comes stuffed with peppercorn that gives the meaty sensation a peppery kick; absolutely delightful though the skin despite being gelatinous and fatty in between was a tad too stiff than crispy. Sweet Potatoes were sautéed; naturally sweet with a pinch salt added for a bit of flavour; the chef noticed that they left out the mustard dressing for the salad on my plate and came over to drizzle the dressing on the remaining salad — pretty commendable service there. They also now have pretty interesting items such as the Fish Kebabs with Couscous which I would come back for, though the pastry and cakes selection seemed to have shrunk after the move.

Charlyn's Milk Bar is now relocated to 11 Biopolis Way, #01-08, Helios, Singapore 138667.

The Short Review

Price Range: $12 without drinks
$17 with drinks

Nearest MRT: Buona Vista

Instagrammability: Moderate -
The food's not easy on the eyes, but their only option of dining outside illuminates plates pretty well.
Meanwhile, a cooking school takes up all that precious, air-conditioned space.

Food:
1) Eggplant Parmegian [$5.00]
Soft, mushy aubergines baked as a vegetable lasagna.
Delicious comfort food.
If you love overboiled brinjals & cheese, you will love this.
I love overboiled brinjals & cheese.

2) Honey Mustard Chicken Thigh & Wedges [$9.00]
Well-cooked Chicken & flavourful skin, let down by soggy homemade potato wedges.

3) Roasted Long Beans & Mushrooms [$3.00]
Zhi-char standard. Or less.

4) Parma Ham Foccacia [$6.50]
Think Foccacia, double-fried in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and left to set for 30 minutes.
Plus side? It's filling?

5) Iced Chocolate [$4.50]
Two parts milk, one part chocolate.
Dilutes terribly fast.
Best thing about it was the accompanying biscotti smidge.
Second best thing about it was thinking how cheap Charlyn's would be without the drinks.

Come Here: Maybe?

Been eyeing on this for a couple of days. The gnocchi is so soft and good.

Sticky cinnamon-filled swirls topped off with condensed milk atop which was not too overwhelmingly sweet!

Special for the day. Fried chicken breast was crispy but a wee bit dry. Ham was premium-grade but the cheese was a bit lacking as one half was rather devoid of it. Grilled potatoes were soft inside, crisp outside and buttery; a real delight to have.
