Besides the chicken rice, I had to order the @chatterboxsg 𝗵𝗼𝗸𝗸𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲 ($28, $14 during @mandarinorchard promotion) which had good reviews from @veronicaphua.
-
Post-delivery texture was slightly moist with the stock mostly absorbed, bestowing potent flavour to every noodle strand. Besides wafts of seafood richness, the great sambal chilli also built layers of flavour with its delightful kick and fragrance.
-
Topped with well-fried premium seafood like king prawns, abalone clams and scallop, this was perhaps more worthy of the luxury price tag.

If you've been following my stories, you would see that I eat at Chatterbox on a monthly basis. They never cease to amaze me, it's the only restaurant that impressed me for most hawker dishes on the menu - they can dish out classic hawker food at standards that are better than most hawker stalls, if not amongst the best.
🔸
With Circuit Breaker in place till 1 June, this is the one stop solution to getting several different hawker food, done very well, by delivery or by drive-through (my preferred medium of pickup, as opposed to queueing at the stalls).
🔸
Pictured are: the famous Mandarin Chicken Rice ($13.50), Hokkien Mee ($14), Herbal Bak Kut Teh ($13.50), Salted Egg Chicken Wings ($10), and Rojak ($8.50). Swipe for their close ups.
🔸
I'll post individual reviews of some of these dishes, many are really good so I would like to dedicate more space for their feature.

Here’s the other dish from @mandarinorchard that was a sleeper hit with us.
Of course I knew the Fried Hokkien Mee was going to taste decent enough given that it’s from @chatterboxsg, the hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant famous for their chicken rice and other local specialties, but little did I expect it to impress the way it did.
Loaded with King prawns, abalone clams, scallops, squid, pork, egg and beansprouts, and cooked in a concentrated pork and prawn-based stock as well as pork lard oil, the noodle dish knocked it out of the park with its rich flavours. It so happens to travel well too since the noodles end up absorbing more of the delicious gravy en route.

Finally got to try the famous Hainanese chicken rice 🐔🍚 from Chatterbox!
.
The chicken was really tender and I liked that it was deboned, making the dining experience more enjoyable and fuss-free. While a local may not fully appreciate this given the price, I would say it's definitely worth letting tourist friends try this. 👍 Remember to ask for more of their ginger!

Entertaining friends or relatives visiting from overseas? Treat them to an upscale experience of the beloved hawker dish in the comfort of Mandarin Orchard. The Mandarin Chicken Rice ($27) features a generous portion of chicken, jasmine rice, chicken soup and an addictive homemade chilli. While you're here splurging on $27 chicken rice, you might as well go all out and pick a nice bottle of wine from their wine list!

All I can say it is a good plate of chicken rice with the right sauces and condiments. But many other places have good chicken rice too😅😅 Sadly it ain't mindblowing to justify the price!
