Chelabela

Very good value with huge amount of meat, banchan and rice provided. I still had plenty of pork left over after finishing a mountain of rice 😋 I opted for normal spicy for the meat and it is very flavourful. The cook on the pork is just right and the meat is very tender. Very enjoyable meal and I will be back for more!

Chelabela also serves a buddaejjigae (or Korean army stew) as part of their slimmed down menu.

The stew is for a lack of a better word, "toned down" to cater to local palate. The beef based broth is sweet and tangy and definitely not spicy. Each stew also comes served with two bowls of rice and full of ingredients such as kimchi, spam, hotdog, tofu, tteokbokki, instant noodles and cheese.

Chelabela's creamy and savoury broth is strangely addictive and comforting and leaves you craving for more!

Chelabela is named after the daughter of the Korean hawker, who drew much attention to her father's struggles during the circuit breaker period.

They have since shifted away from Marsiling to a more convenient location in AMK, and features a less extensive and slimmed down menu.

I was to be honest a little surprised to find that their food is served in plastic bento boxes even though we were having it there. The pork was a little on the tough side. The marinade obviously catered to local tastebuds and was a little sweet. That said, it was tasty and at this price, provided excellent value! I also liked that it came with some banchans which you don't usually get at hawker stalls serving Korean food!
