with soft-boiled eggs and milk tea

While it is newly renovated, the store maintains its rustic interior design - with old school floor and wall tiles, thick marble slab and traditional tables and wooden chairs. The cafe serves up nostalgic Kaya Toast with soft boiled eggs, and also old school savoury and sweet treats such as Luncheon Meat Buns and Chiffon Cakes. There are traditional Eurasian confections such as Cream Horns too!

Finally visited the refurbished Chin Mee Chin, and it took me long enough to come to this traditional yet charmingly nostalgic coffeeshop. The Kaya toast set doesn’t look like what you’d expect, the classic square toast, but was made with a round bun that was just slightly toasted, but well-buttered and soft. A nice alternative to the other kaya toasts out there! I personally did not enjoy the yuan yang I got together with my meal though, for the texture was a bit too thin.

pretty pricey for a small bun, but the otah to bread ratio is still generous. ive been having CMC’s otah buns since i was a kid and this sure brings back great memories.

the place has underwent a renovation and its less gloomy and stuffy, with added outdoor seats. prices have increased but standards have dropped a little. the coffee is still rich, kaya still has the same rustic home-made texture, and eggs perfectly jiggly. but the bread was neither warm nor toasted. and it just somehow lacks that smokey flavour it used to have.

I ordered their kopi set (comes with Kaya toast, kopi and egg ) and luncheon meat bun.
It’s not as good as I remember, the toast not really crispy, the egg one is ok one is runny . The luncheon meat bun not as soft as I expected and the luncheon meat is half size only 😅.
💰$4.9 for toast set and $2 for luncheon meat bun.
