My fav place for 烤鱼! Probably because it’s the first place that introduced me to kaoyu, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart 😛

Have been to this place at least 3-4 times, and have always left very satisfied. Service is not the most friendly but it’s always prompt; it’s slightly better when you visit in the afternoon (i.e. not peak period).

The fish is always fresh, juicy and meaty. The mala level is customisable and so are the other ingredients (料) like potato slices, beancurd skin etc. Beancurd skin goes so well with the mala sauce/soup!

The mala sauce/soup is salty and spicy, exactly the way mala should be. But it’s not exceedingly salty/spicy/numbing so I find that it has just the right amount of flavour. 🤩

Prices are not the most affordable though, so it’s definitely not an everyday meal. But good to share it with friends for a get-together :) The location is pretty convenient as well.

A bit on the pricey end, but tastes really great!

Was here for 2 consecutive days and it’s safe to say, my ass is on 🔥 but I also managed to get really good deals thanks to Burpple Beyond so everything was worth it 💯 ⁣

• there were TONS and TONS of low-value items such as hotdogs, meatballs, and crabmeat added into the pots although we only ordered 1 portion of each. not sure if it was intentionally done so, as some other reviews have speculated

• soup was extremely salty. we couldn’t wait to stop eating but were worried about risking food wastage

• food took a very long while to arrive

• prices were not very transparent. advise to triple check first

• something just felt “off” throughout our dining experience. we weren’t sure what it was but it was unsettling

The portion was really big as you get two fishes but be careful with what you order. They will spam the Low value items such as sausages and black fungus to make you full and less inclined to buy the higher value items!

This is the premium selection which we top up from normal buffet...

From the beef you can see the cut was pretty and comes with abit of fats which gives the beef very juicy and soft texture for steamboat. Definitely a must order you if top up for Premium selection
