Still my favourite kway chap to go for even though I need to travel across the island and brave the (at least 30 min) queue 😂 Have been here many times and it’s always consistently good. Love how thoroughly braised all their ingredients are - they have found this perfect balance of rich herbal flavour with sweet and savoury notes. Super flavourful, even the kway!

Only open for certain days close to the weekend, this is a place where you need to be prepare for a long wait.

I came on Saturday morning before lunch time and there were already a super long queue. I took more than 40 minutes just for the queueing.

I have to agree with most people that this is one of the best kway chap in Singapore. The chap was flavourful and all the intestines got a strong “lor” taste. $5 for one person

I used to eat Blanco Court kway chap every weekend when I was young so I have very high standard when come to kway chap. So I’m not lying when I said this is the only other kway chap that I found worth eating! Firstly the kway, the soup is very flavourful which is rare and the fried garlic (which you can add on your own) makes it taste even better! Another reason is that the intestines are washed very throughly and 100% no weird taste! They are also very tender and they absorb the “lor” so well due to the hours they cooked them.

In the East side of Singapore, Chris Kway Chap is undoubtedly one of the strong contenders for that accolade. Opened only four days a week (Thu-Sun), be prepared to wait in line as you will expect to see long snacking queues from the early morning till they close shop for the day at around 2pm. The braising liquid is the key to all things good about kway chap and here at Chris Kway Chap, all the ingredients are braised for many hours before actually being served. The eternal pot which holds all the braise has been simmering for many years, which is no surprise that it brings lots of flavour and umami-ness. The balance of sweet, savoury and herby notes from the braising liquid brings everything together and these flavours are present in each ingredient from the well-clean intestines to the pork belly. Even the supporting cast of the flat rice sheet noodles are boiled and mixed in with their special concocted broth which contains the same braising liquid. The condiments of fried garlic bits and oil into the noodle brings it up a notch while the accompanying tangy chilli sauce helps cut through the fattiness of the braised organs and meat. Overall, this is by far one of my favourite places to go for kway chap if I am lucky enough to get in the queue.

Second time having Chris Kway Chap and so glad to report that it’s good as we remembered! Really enjoyed the well-braised ingredients and comforting bowl of kway. Got to be prepared to wait for a while in the queue though.

While the queue at Chris Kway Chap is perpetually long, it is worth the wait. Good morning!
