Long queues aside, Chuan Kee serves one of my favorite go-to braised duck rice in the west! I always go for the $6 set because of the generous portion of braised duck, braised tofu and half an egg stacked atop the yam rice - very value-for-money!

Itโ€™s hard to pinpoint my favorite on the plate, considering everything was well-executed especially the braised duck. Every piece was succulent and scant of gamey flavor, youโ€™d need to eat it with their tangy garlic chilli! The rice was fragrant and fluffy, and I LOVED the luscious sauce coating over it. Some places serve a sweeter variant of the braised sauce, but theirs is so packed with savory umami which elevated all the other components. Also, this is one of the few places I would eat their braised peanuts cos the softness is just right!

Chuan Kee always has one of the longest queues at Ghim Moh Food Centre. After being awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for itsย stellar braised duck, its queue now snakes around the building.

As I was starving, I went for the largest portion of ๐——๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ฅ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ available ($5.50). It consisted of a generous amount of braised duck, some braised tofu, braised peanuts and half a braised egg atop a bed of rice. Everything was drenched in a rich, luscious sauce.

The tender duck did not disappoint, while the tofu, peanuts and egg were par for the course. The sauce, which coated every slice of duck, piece of tofu and peanut, was what made everything mouth-wateringly magnificent. Even the rice tasted extra delicious when eaten with the sauce.

The accompanying bowl of soup was not to be outdone. Sporting a dark shade of brown, it was simultaneously sweet and savoury, while possessing the aroma of dang gui. One of the best braised duck stalls in Singapore and I'll be back for sure!

It was my first time at Ghim Moh Road Market & Food Centre, and being a Monday, many stalls were closed as well, which limited my options greatly. Fortunately, I joined the queue for Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck and was rewarded with a plate of braised duck rice ($4.80) that I chowed down within minutes. Letโ€™s first talk about the rice which was nicely fragrant and fluffy, followed by the all-important braised duck that had neither the dryness texture nor the gaminess flavour. The braising sauce is like liquid gold which provided the nice umaminess and savoury touch that elevated this humble plate of duck rice into Michelin Bib Gourmand stardom. The next time I am back at Ghim Moh Road Market & Food Centre, it is tough to not join the queue and get another plate of this duck rice.

Listed under the Michelin Bib Gourmand, Chuan Kee is one of the popular store located at Ghim Moh Food Centre. Succulent duck meat drizzled with viscous dark braised sauce, serves with a heart warming bowl of herbal soup.

If you love your duck rice, this one darn good duck rice stall to consider. We ordered a set for 5 people ($38.80), which included a generous amount of duck meats, pork belly slices, egg, toufu, innards, rice and soup. The duck and pork belly slices are both very tender, and I love how they are drenched in this wonderful braised sauce that is so fragrant without being too salty. The innards are very fresh as well, especially the liver has only a small amount of iron taste! Really really wholesome meal!

Michelin gourmand Braised Duck Rice.

Located at Ghim moh market, this duck rice is one of the more popular duck rice at Ghim Moh Market.

The meat was tender soft, the skin was so smooth

The sauce was good as well, and the chilli really damn good.

I dare say, one of the best braised duck rice I had for a long time.
