Served in a pineapple. Large bite sized tender chicken pieces won't pineapple chunks and vegetables

Had family dinner at this Zi Char within the Henderson industrial estate.

In the picture:
Steamed Lala
Salt and pepper toufu
Fried dragon vegetables
Fish steamboat

We also had one fried radish omelette, marmite chicken and 2 crabs (salted egg yolk and black pepper)

Total bill came up to $300 for 12 of us. Pretty worth it imo. The crabs are tasty and fresh and we had a whole grouper in the steamboat with a very hearty and tasty broth.

Had chilli crab with man tow, char siew, coffee ribs and curry fish head here today. The chilli crab is quite spicy compared with those I had before, but there is a lot of meat from the crab (and we even got to choose the crab we want). The coffee ribs is quite flavourful but not overwhelming.

A bit disappointed about the char siew as it is quite fat but I understood that ours is the last plate so probably there is no choice. Wish the deep fried man tou is more crispy too as it is a bit soft.

$104.5 in total which is still quite reasonable.

This “char siew” was nothing short of incredible. Fantastically smoky and beautifully caramelised, it’s also melt-in-the-mouth tender as a fatty cut of pork was used.
Although I‘ve geotagged this as “Chuan Kee Seafood”, it is actually from a roast meats stall a couple of units away from the “Chuan Kee Seafood” stall (both are located in the same canteen of an old light industrial building estate). You need to go in the day time if you want to have it by itself. But if you are heading over in the evening to “Chuan Kee” for “zi char”, you can call ahead and ask their staff to help you reserve a portion (I learned this tip from Burpple Tastemaker @blueskiescottonclouds).
Pictured above is a $10 serving. I think it’s enough for: 1 x hardcore protein-lover, 2 x hungry friends (or a couple), 3 x individuals who like pork or 4 x curious folks who are looking to taste the “char siew”.


Kids loved this. The version here is different from the ones in Malaysia. Still it holds its own well.
