This slice of cake was pretty hard and dense (like it was difficult to cut and eat with plastic forks), we expected it to be much much much lighter. Tastewise - the dark chocolate ganache and the coffee buttercream was not bad. Personally I wouldn’t order this again or recommend it.

We came on a Sunday afternoon at about 3.30pm and some of the other cakes were already sold out! We easily managed to get a seat for two though.

Whipped cream was fresh and lightly sweetened, the spongecake was soft and moist. A pretty good and solid slice of shortcake, though I expected a little more strawberries than the few tiny slices sandwiched inside. It’s a little bit on the tiny side in terms of serving size but at least it’s yummy.

6 mini tarts of different flavours - Chocolate Almond l Chocolate Caramel l Mixed Fruit l Passionfruit l Lemon Meringue l Apple Crumble

Love the buttery base and their tarts are not overly sweet for the chocolate ones while the citrusy ones has a good tang to it.

🤔: A buttery tart base filled with silky chocolate ganache, and topped with crunchy almonds. What's not to love! Tasted like a luxurious dessert, but it didn't even hurt my wallet.

I really enjoyed the earl grey lavender cake. The sweetness was just right with strong fragrance of lavender and moist sponge with cream cheese frosting.

The Carrot cake was kinda disappointing with nuts and carrot bits in the sponge that was too tough to chew and overall I found it too sweet.

Jot this quaint heartland cafe down for quick sugary pick-me-ups in the north. Come for their Passionfruit Meringue Tart ($4.80) that sees a buttery crust filled with smooth citrusy passionfruit cream and Italian meringue flowers. Also good is the more classic Lemon Meringue Tart ($4.50). For something sweet and refreshing, order their Fresh Fruit Tart ($4.60). These tarts are even better when paired with a piping hot cup of Gryphon English Breakfast Tea ($4) and a good read or a quiet conversation.
