What an interesting find! First time trying vegetarian satay and I’m rather impressed. The marinade for the “meat” was pretty good, and it was well-charred with crispy bits, similar to typical satay. Texture-wise, I could tell it wasn’t meat, but it was a little bouncy, like chicken when it’s tender. It’s much more flavourful, and has better texture than regular mock meats! The accompanying peanut sauce was alright, but got a little starchy for me at the end. Also, found this pretty filling.

Circuit Road Hawker Centre has an abundant amount of vegetarian food and this wanton mee ($3.50/$4) from Meng Heng Vegetarian Food is one of the best I've tried. The noodles is the star of the dish, due to its firm texture and the chilli sauce that coats around it is really addictive.

The Vegetarian Otah ($2 per piece) from Victor Veggie is interesting as well and has a nice spicy kick!

Puff was freshly baked from the oven. Crust was warm and contains mainly potato and minced mutton.

Since we were already here to try Victor Veggie, we also tried this other vegetarian stall that had a whole menu of stewed soups and rice. Really loved the mushroom rice, it was so fragrant and savoury, mixed in with bits of mushrooms and mock meat. Had a hard time deciding on which rice to go for as there’s 6 different ones! The other options were pumpkin rice, black eyed peas with black sesame and seaweed brown rice, etc.

Soup wise, we got to try this mushroom, dried longan and black beans soup. There weren’t that many mushrooms though, but they were very generous with the beans beans. Though it was really hearty and comforting, I prefer more savoury soups in general, so this was a tad too sweet for me. Will definitely be back to try the others though!

PRICE: $4.50 for 4 ingredients and $2 minced meat noodles

WAITING TIME: 2 persons in the queue before me at 11.30am. About 5 mins.

- This hawker centre is looooooooong. The layout is a very long rectangular one. This stall is located near the bus stop. Blk 79, not 79A.
- It was our first visit so we walked through the entire hawker centre twice. While we were staring at this YTF stall with a queue, the uncle who just got his food gave us a thumbs up and said we should definitely try this YTF.
