CLOVE on level 2 of Swissotel The Stamford has been revamped into a casual western restaurant that serves handcrafted burgers made with sustainably-sourced ingredients.

The brioche bun tasted like any other burger bun. Lobster portion was not small despite the price. Quiet environment and good ambience.

Walked into CLOVE for some burger and shakers. It used to be a buffet restaurant but it reopened with a new casual dining concept. Good selection of burgers, salads, plant based items, sides and shakes! The dessert looks good too!

Ordered Mr Gorden Blue, ham and cheese stuffed with chicken, cranberry jam on bun and green. It comes with thick cut fries too. Bun was soft and juicy chicken. Combinatiom with cheese was light, not overwhelmingly rich. Thick cut fries remains crispy almost throughout the meal.

Got to check out their thick shakes, boozy shakes and desserts selection next!

From the newly-revamped Clove at Swissotel The Stamford; formerly being a buffet restaurant, the establishment has transformed into a casual diner due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and places a focus of serving up burgers and milkshakes instead.

The Sinfully Swiss consists of elements such as Stanbroke Angus Beef Patty, Crisp Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Mushrooms, and Homemade Bourbon BBQ sauce, and with a choice of Brioche Bun, Farm Fresh Kale Sourdough Bun or wrap. Opted for the Kale Sourdough Bun with our order; the sourdough bun was surprisingly light and fluffy — something different from the usually dense and chewy sourdough that requires some effort to chew apart, while the Kale does provide a slight “green” note that one would associate with leafy greens within the bun, though the bun does lack that slight tanginess usually associated with sourdough from the fermentation process. The entire burger felt like a well put-together piece; a classic cheeseburger with a well-executed beef patty — easy to chew and absolutely juicy and savoury without being gamey, all that well matched with the slight cheesiness from the cheddar cheese and the saltish notes of the bacon typical of cured meat, which also helped to add a crisp texture to the burger with the bouncy mushrooms which gave an earthy flavour. Liked how the burger was pretty well-proportioned across the various condiments; a good balance of different texture and flavours without being soaked with the juices of the meat. The fries on the side were crisp and well-seasoned; not particularly greasy and came with dehydrated kale chips for a slight crunch and balance of flavours.

Given the environment and it’s large dining hall, Clove does work out as a great spot for burgers in a slightly posh surrounding (the glass sky roof contributes much to that vibe here) that works out well for both catch-ups and dates alike, though it only opens on Fridays to Sundays likely owing to the footfall in the area. Still, a pretty good spot to consider to dine at especially if around Raffles City.

Weekday dinner buffet. Paid $154.20 in all for 1x adult, 2x kids. The Prime Ribeye, Lamb Rendang and Laksa is the my fav. My kids loves the Scallop and Smoked Salmon. The variety is alot but somehow you dun feel like it's a feast as everything is cluttered together in very small portions n keeps running out. The layout of the spread is also not convenient for kids n shorter adult like me. It's either too high up or too far deep in too reach. Dun think I'll be going back for it again. For this price, I'll happily top up more for the Line or Rise MBS.

Went to The Clove @ The Swissotel with a few friends on Friday night after pre-purchasing a Chope voucher where the buffet went for half price, $55.91 nett per pax after the discount. Wanting to maximise my money even more, I booked the table at the earliest possible time, 1730H and arrived at 1700H for good measure.

Comparing the food that was available to the menu provided on their website, everything was pretty similar except for their desserts which was disappointingly scarce relative to their online menu. There was a distinct lack of:
1) Petit Macarons
2) Millefeuille Parmesan Cheese Tart
3) “Apple Clove” Caramel Crepe Gateaux (C)
4) “Orange Clove” Cocoa Sable (C)
5) Japan Sweet Potato Tea Cake
6) Chocolate Bonbon

While I understand that the menu showcases all their dishes which are placed on a rotational basis, it would still have been good to showcase different types of desserts apart from their ruby cocoa selection.

Nonetheless, my friends and I spent a good 3H at the buffet and we enjoyed our evening immensely as the variety and quality of the food overall was top-notch. My only other gripe would be that the clearance of plates may have been a tad too slow, though the staff were more than happy to provide cups of decaf coffee, skimmed milk and soya milk (Note: The soya milk tasted really peculiar, I think it may have been UHT soya milk?).

Price: 8/10
Taste: 9.5/10
Overall: 9/10
