The combination of vintage lamps, mosaic tiled floors, marble-top bar and dark wood furniture creates just the right setting for a date in town. While many visit Social for brunch, it can be even more alluring with the setting sun. The unctuous Wagyu beef cheeks should be perfect for the guys, and for the ladies (you can have the wagyu too!)- you have a choice of breakfast for dinner - scrambled eggs with fontina and chives? This dish was a really pleasant one and all the elements came together really well. The lamb was perfectly cooked; it was really tender. While there was a slight gamey-ness (only a tinge) to the lamb, we like this aspect of it. The pomegrenate really gave a nice pop to this dish and an added brightness. Finally, the quinoa nestled at the bottom of the plate soaked up all the juices from the lamb, and made for a great mouthful altogether.

We donā€™t believe this is a dish thatā€™s served that commonly in Singapore, hence we decided to order it. While not perfect, it was a pretty satisfying dish overall. The sausage did not have too intense a flavor to it, and was thankfully not overdone. The chutney seemed to be the star of the show, with its acidity and bite giving good contrast to the dish. However, we donā€™t think a scotch egg can be called as such without a molten interior. Also, these were only warm when they arrived at our table, rather than being served piping hot.

Serving this on a slightly sweeter slice of bread (Pilsner loaf it seems) turned out to be an amazing decision by the Chef as it paired perfectly with the myriad of savoury toppings packed within. The gems inside the sandwich included pulled pork, prosciutto as well as tallegio cheese. This was our first time trying this cheese but itā€™s intense flavor and saltiness really went well with the bread.

We loved every single thing about this dish. The dumplings were plump yet had a nice bite to it. The best part was definitely the sauce, which had a great garlic and mushroom flavor to it. Whatā€™s surprising was that it wasnā€™t gelat and you just kept going back for more.

Iā€™ve said it before and Iā€™ll say it again: this place sure knows how to make a mean grilled cheese sammich! Like a sloppy, obese long-term boyfriend, it just gets even meaner, bigger and badder with time(yeah, I actually compared pictures and it DID become more substantial?!), leaving you hopelessly addicted and always crawling back for more. One simply canā€™t forget the texture of that thick, creamy cheese that oozes out upon cutting through slices of toast that are heavily buttered and slathered in truffle bitsšŸ˜
šŸ„‘
We also gave the avocado toast a try and were seriously impressed! The smashed avocado component comes as a humongous mass stacked atop a slice of sourdough, interspersed with quinoa, feta cheese and lightly spiced with a sauce that vaguely resembles kimchi. On top of that(literally and figuratively), TWO jiggly poached eggs are perched precariously, as if the slightest quiver of the plate can - and will - lead to their premature demise. When itā€™s Sunday brunch day and youā€™re seeking a hearty meal, Club Street Social is where you want to be!

Is it REALLY considered brunch without truffle anything?? šŸ˜‚ Ordered this expecting yet another overglorified ā€œall day breakfastā€ item jumping on the truffle/cheesepull bandwagon, yet was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. No doubt a simple execution - with just a lightly dressed salad accompanying two half-slices of grilled cheese toast, the sammich was allowed to speak for itself.
Though unassuming in appearance, itā€™s the unique selection of everyday ingredients which makes all the difference - with the fattier ham hock bits interspersed within the perceptibly more creamy-sweet taleggio, a richer and more punctuating overall flavor elevates it from ordinary to divine grilled cheese sandwich status. Safe to say, the meticulousness and thought put into this toast is something Iā€™ll be back for!
