Memories of childhood here, with their rich tomato ketchup laced gravy, bold with vegetal sweet savoury flavour.
.
The mee pok / wide flat egg noodles have a more chewy texture than elsewhere, and crisp lettuce lends a bright vegetal sweet freshness.
.
The bouncy fish balls and springy fish cakes are decent, with sweet savoury flavour. I like the addition of a bit of minced pork, tender with meaty sweet savoury flavour.

While more well known for their chye tow kueh, they also serve a pretty decent rendition of char kway teow.
.
The chunks of chewy lup cheong / dried cured pork sausage with meaty savoury salty flavour, and the tender fish cake with sweet savoury flavour, stand out here.
.
They use more egg, resulting in a wet wispy sweet savoury goodness that is rather pleasing, complementing the light smoky wok hei / breath of the wok aroma of the noodles.
.
The drizzle of lime juice, with its tangy zesty sour notes, lends a nice contrast to round out the dish.

Fried Carrot Cake / Chye Tow Kueh is my favourite dish of all time. I love it so much that, on average, I eat it at least once per week. And in weeks I'm out of town, I eat more of it on my return, just to make up for the missed experience.
.
This stall does a style I like, where the carrot cake is chopped into really small cubes, and slathered with egg. It's moist and soft with crispy bits that make it satisfying.
.
The black version is decent enough, with mild sweet savoury eggy spice flavour. I prefer the white version, which has a lovely savoury sweet eggy spice flavour with smoky aroma.

This stall actually does a good child-friendly version of bak chor mee, using a rich tomato sauce that results in an appetizing vegetal sweet savoury gravy, very nostalgic.
.
The regular version with black vinegar and sambal chili is decent enough, with the mee pok / wide flat egg noodles here having a more chewy texture than elsewhere.
.
Of note are the pork meatballs with a small hollow centre, carrying a burst of meaty savoury salty flavour from the meat gravy within.

Roast Duck Rice ($6.60)

This is a stall that my family patronises very often, I must say that the roasted duck is done pretty well - fragrant roasted skin with a thin layer of juicy fats, together with tender but firm meat, this is such a treat!
The magic lies in the drizzling of that addictive gravy & a spoonful of roast duck oil that they collected from the roasting process - the ultimate essence! Makes both the meats & rice so irresistible!

Hokkien mee @ $5

I like how moist this plate of Hokkien mee is and also the addition of chilli padi on top of the normal hokkien mee chilli cuz it gives a good punch of spiciness and a different dimension to the entire dish. But thought they could do a bit more with the ingredients, only managed to get a few bites of the meat and lard, with two pieces of prawns and some sotongs.

Overall taste is not bad but there's definitely better hokkien mee elsewhere.
