Coconut Tau Huay 6++ Absolutely blown away by this dessert. Tau huay's texture was on point, it just disintegrates in your mouth but holds its shape well if you don't touch it. The coconut flavour also comes through brilliantly. The honey ice cream has such an amazing honey taste. Every component is great on its own. Really difficult to reconstruct people's childhood, put a modern twist on it so subtly but surely and execute everything well. The salted butter cookie crumble provided a refreshing texture. This for me is deserving of being served in a Michelin establishment if not for 2 minor issues: tapioca balls have a honey note which is a repetition, and the strong flavours of the other elements end up overpowering the coconut tau huay(and there isn't really a easy resolution to this problem since the coconut flavour is already there on its own) Overall fantastic dish and this level of thought into a dish is simply unbelievable. Starting to love the idea of this place, when they execute crowd favourites perfectly but instead of revolutionising it, they just put a small spin on it to make it theirs

All About Pork 17++ Redolent of kway chap when the dish was brought over, probably because of the braised peanuts. I prefer braised peanuts to be really soft to the point of being mushy, but this one had bite. Visually this just seems like elevated hawker food and taste wise they certainly delivered as well. Look at the colour on the kurobuta charsiew. Really crispy exterior but it loses its crisp quickly so don't wait. The fat to meat ratio is also excellent with more fat than meat which results in the luxurious mouth feel worth saving cheat day for. The low temp pork belly was also a stunner, being well marinated to the core and very tender as well. Slightly crispy on the outside but could have been crispier imo. The mustard was interesting but it's better on the side so that people can choose how much they want Overall solid option for lunch and very value for money

relishin' some radish While this modernised version may not appease lovers of strictly traditional fried carrot cake, XYT Chai Tow Kway ($16) is a somewhat deconstructed take on the iconic Singaporean dish, with scrambled eggs, cubes of moreish crispy-edged homemade radish cake and radish slices (staying true to the main ingredient here I see). In my opinion, the trio of spicy minced pork, dried shrimp and XO sauce takes centre stage here, with a hint of sweetness as well, giving the eggs additional oomph. This is a dish easy on the eyes, and also on the palate; an interpretation I can totally swing with. ☺

Give your stomach a spicy punch with the Salmon Tom Yum Pasta from Som Tam 🌶 For people who can appreciate Thai fusion dishes, this might be right up your alley! The distinct hot and sour flavours of Tom Yun were incorporated into the dish, without being too overwhelming. But it was a tad too spicy for me. Oh, and thumbs up for the generous servings of salmon! 👍🏻

Cooling off our mouths after a spicy meal at Som Tam 👅 The actual Mille Crepe Cake was a little disappointing with the crepe layers being a little too hard. Plus, the Thai Tea Gelato could do better with a more milky and creamy texture. With Lady M just a few floors below, I think your money could be more well spent there 😔

Thai Curry Gai( Aka Chicken) 13.8++ Wasn't expecting something so hearty for a fusion restaurant but damn their gravy is rich thick and has a kick. Was skeptical before but after tasting it i can see why it goes well w pasta. It's so thick it's slightly difficult to drink but it's not too good for homely Thai restaurant so it's still rather overpriced without the promotion

Som Tam Carbonara 13.8++ They weren't very sure of the burpple deal and needed some convincing. Also apparently you have to place a reservation using choose before u can use the burpple offer so luckily I did that. Otherwise this was less of a carbonara than a dessert salted egg yolk sauce +pasta+lup Cheong+bits of actual salted egg. First thing you notice immediately is thats it's seriously as sweet as the salted egg yolks desserts and the naturally sweet lup Cheong doesn't help. However I can't say I disliked this. Try it if you dare lol I definitely can't guarantee that you'll like it but some people might be able to tolerate it. Either ways the sauce is extremely rich and I regretted ordering the soup immediately after finishing this even though I'm q a big eater

Collagen Soba Set I personally like soba a lot, especially for that neat and fresh texture. Having said that, there are not many places just serving soba in Singapore. I had lunch over healthy Soba IKI. Service was fantastic. I had the collagen chicken soba as it is one of the recommended “localized” dish. The collagen soup was very thick and filling. The serving of chicken was very generous too. Over all I enjoyed it, and would like to try the more Japanese infused soba dishes next time!

Avocado Kaisen Tororo Soba ($15) Gluten free soba, made in-house with high quality ingredients imported from Japan; Healthy Soba Iki has quite a wide variety of local-inspired/ Japanese, cold/ hot soba. If soba is not your thing, there's always the option of rice bowls. This is my favourite of the night from the cold Soba section. Served with avocado, eggs, tuna and salmon chirashi with a refreshing cold dip - mix in the wasabi for a bit of flavour and a slight spicy kick. Soba had a good bite to it! Thank you @healthysobaiki for having us and #burpple for the kind invite.

Burpple Tastemaker Eatup at Healthy Soba IKI Made a trip done to Healthy Soba IKI recently with a couple of Burpple Tastemakers for a Burpple Tastemaker Eatup and tried a selection of their healthy buckwheat soba offerings — they have a menu that boasts quite a good mix of Japanese as well as locally inspired creations such as the Laksa Soba. My personal favourites would be the Collagen Chicken Soba from the Local Signature section of the menu and the Avocado Kaisen Tororo Soba from the Cold section. The former was almost akin to eating chicken rice after the ginger is mixed into the collagen chicken soup base which is not overly rich; comes with a rather generous portion of poached chicken that is immensely tender and also chili oil for those who can't do without chili when having Hainanese Chicken Rice. The Avocado Kaisen Tororo is the crowd pleaser; marinated cubes of raw fish and a lightly savoury cold dipping sauce that is pretty good on its own. Dessert was pretty good — never thought that matcha would work well against strawberry but the Matcha Strawberry Pudding proved us wrong with the bitter aroma of Matcha complimenting and counters the tartness of the strawberries really well. Thanks Healthy Soba IKI for hosting, and Burpple for the invite!

Healthy Sobas & Japanese Rice Bowls I know this cafeteria specialises in soba noodles, but my friend and I found the rice meal offer on FAVE more value-for-money so we got ourselves the Avocado Pepper Duck ($14) and Kaisendon ($15) instead. Compared to other Japanese rice bowls at the same price, I must say that they're really generous with the toppings which are of a good quality too. The avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy, the pepper duck was tender and packed with umami, and the raw fish cubes were fresh. Unfortunately, the rice was a little dry due to a lack of sauce and they could definitely do with more vinegar.
