Hvala currently serve Matcha Latte using matcha from 2 different regions in Japan – the Uji Matcha Latte ($5.20) in which the flavour profile is described as “vegetal and slightly astringent”; and Nisho Matcha Latte ($5.60) with a rounder flavour and more vibrant colour comparatively. I was pleasantly surprised to see my Matcha on the Latte being hand whisked (to ensure freshness), and am currently hooked on its Matcha + Houjicha Latte. http://danielfooddiary.com/2017/08/20/matchalatte/ #DFDMatcha

Love matcha or prefer hojicha? Why not have the best of both worlds when you can have a swirl of nishio matcha and hojicha twist in a cone for $6.20? The bitterness of the matcha and roasted houjicha paired so well together and is an absolute saver in this scorching hot weather. _________________ Hvala Waffle Bar Address: 313, Orchard Road, 313 Somerset, Unit B3-50, Singapore 238895 • #yoursingapore #visitsingapore #singapore #burpproved #buzzfeast #buzzfeedfood #makansutra #cafehopping #cafesg #sgcafes #hvala #hvalasg #313somerset

Nishio matcha/ Houjicha twist [$5.70/ cup, $6.20/cone] Available for a limited time (heard its till end of this week only), do head down this weekend to try the NEW houjicha (roasted green tea) before it's taken off the menu! ✨ Serving alongside Nishio matcha, having the dual flavours was a tea-riffic option that certainly didn't disappoint; much better than having the individual flavours in silo IMO. The combination was one with a robust, full bodied earthy flavour of Nishio matcha, coupled with its lingering pleasant umami note that blended harmoniously with the distinctive roasted flavour and aroma of the Houjicha softserve. The softserve was also smooth, creamy and thick, a melt-in-the mouth texture that I adore. Having tried the houjicha flavour in silo on my prior visit, I would highly recommend the twist (dual flavours) for the hardcore matchaholics as it comes with a stronger flavour profile . . . . #burpple #smitteneats #smittenchoice

Houjicha softserve [$5.20/cup, $5.70/cone] NEW and back on the menu for a LIMITED time only, I was glad to have the opportunity to try out this flavour (after my previous failed attempt some time back). Available along with Nishio matcha flavour, you can choose to also have a twist (dual flavours) if you can't make up your mind among the 2! I decided to have it in silo to fully savour the flavour first. The softserve was smooth and creamy, with a melt-in-the mouth texture, coupled with a distinct earthy flavour and a pleasant lingering roasted aroma. Though the characteristic roasted flavour was pretty distinct, my heart is still leaning towards @matchayasg for their robust and full bodied flavour with a bitter undertone. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind giving this a 2nd try for the twist (dual flavour)! 💖 . . . #burpple #smitteneats #smittenchoice

Cheese Guan Yin 》$4.10/Medium I'm not a fan of their cheese foam drink 😐 The combination feels weird. Drink from the straw and all you taste was guan yin tea. Sip from the top and I get slightly salted cheese foam. Mix them all and it just taste like guan yin milk tea but the original guan yin milk tea from the menu taste better.

For Unique Cheese Foam Teas Homegrown brand LiHO, which means "how are you" in Hokkien, has replaced all 80 outlets of Taiwanese tea franchise Gong Cha. Expect a good variety of bubble tea classics like Milk Tea + Pearl (from $3.30) and Earl Grey Milk Tea ($2.90), along with their signature cheese tea, which sees a savoury cheese foam layer topping the drinks. The result is a savoury, bittersweet combination that the Burpple community is beginning to warm up to. Take Burppler Thechoyalicious :)'s advice to pair the foam with one of the Chinese tea selections, which will balance flavours nicely. Try this in the Cheese Jing Syuan Tea (from $4.10) and Cheese Guan Yin (from $4.10). Avg Price: $5 per person Photo by Burppler Thechoyalicious :)

Duo Creme Brulee (S$14++) from @dear.nesuto . This is a lovely Vanilla and Chocolate Creme Brulee that is not too sweet and big enough for two to share. Initially I was skeptical about having chocolate in a creme brulee but it works! . While my favourite creme brulee is still "durian can boleh" from @thequarterssg , this comes a close second. . Where to find this? Nesuto 53 Tras Street, S078992 . [This was taken during a food tasting.]

Suzette ($9.80) An elegant entremet inspired by the French dessert Crêpe Suzette. Imagine creamy layer of dulcey cremeux with orange caramel and Ivoire 35% Grand Marnier mousse atop crunchy Santiago tart base. Smooth texture and delicately sweet, the flavours blend together harmoniously. Recommend to go along with @antea.social Dong Ding Oolong!

[jelly星期二] DUO Creme Brulee $14.00 🍮 Made up of Madagascar Vanilla Custard, Valrhona 66% Premium Choc as main elements, then topped with fresh berries, this Caraibe Pot de Creme was a sweet indulgence. 🍮 Sinfully rich in taste, smooth texture was spot on and I love this chocolatey aftertaste better than those common vanilla ones found elsewhere. But only if they have "mao shan wang" creme brûlée, I wished~ 🍮 It was recommended to pair with Kuki-Hojicha tea as the natural bitterness of tea balances the sweetness of the dessert. 🍮 Nesuto 53 Tras Street Singaapore 078992 Tel: +65 6920 2922 Opens daily 11am to 8.30pm

Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake $8 When I ordered this, I wondered if this would taste more like a chocolate or cheese cake. But when I tasted it, I actually tasted both! Neither flavours were trying to outshine the other, both fused well and this really hits the spot when you are craving for both types of cakes but can only have one. Decadent but not overwhelming, I can't wait to be back to try more of their other cakes!

Creamy Heaven Avocado Chocolate Cake ($7.50 nett) I wish I'd discovered this earlier! Really satisfied my avocado cravings, but not in an overwhelming way. However, the "chocolate" was just what you can see on the top & sides... Not much of it. I'd like to see it as just an avocado cake - not an avocado "chocolate" cake. 💵 Cash NETS only 🌬 Air-conditioned seats

Carrot Cake Slice Hadn't been back here for a very long time despite school being relatively close by, but it feels very much like had lost the initial charm here — its bustling now but it does feel a little too noisy in this very quaint and quiet neighborhood within a private estate. The Carrot Cake that I am fond with has also changed; now serve in slice form — a little less moist and more crumbly than I would have expected it to be with very light hints of cinnamon flavour that was barely detectable; almost like having any other piece of cake. Even the cream cheese frosting felt like it lost a bit of its moisture. The food has definitely seen better days even though the place isn't as busting as what it is now ...
