Available as their special menu, the ngoh hiang is the recipe passed down from their grandparent decades ago. With five spice chicken wrapped in crispy beancurd skin.
This is always the place I will stop by for some meal whenever I’m visiting National Gallery.
Beside they are affordable, it is also a comfortable place to rest and recharge with their foods selection.
This item on the mains comes with crispy fried fish bites, onsen egg, cocktail tomatoes sauce and the furikake garlic butter rice. A very comfort meal as well.
Show on their new item board but not in their menu book, comes with few pieces of prawn paste chicken and they are served hot and crispy.
It could get a bit dry, so better to grab some drink as well. $12.80 and add $1 for a plate of rice.
Kaya custard layer was decent, black rice layer was way too hard
PSA do your math when you want to order the set, no idea why they charge MORE for set with upsize than ala carte everything. Lmao it's a good scam for those who don't check their bill I guess
Quick math:
If anyone cares the normal set is 5.5 for a set of 2 Kueh 1.6 plus kopi 2.8
But kopi gula melaka has a 1.5 top up, making it 7 for set(5.5+1.5) compared to 6.8 for a la carte(1.6*2+3.6)
This doesn't make sense because kopi gula melaka is 0.8 more than normal kopi, which means the top-up should be a max of 0.8 not 1.5
Generous amount of gula melaka. The kopi itself was amazing. Thick, smooth, fragrant and had the teeniest hint of bitterness. Gula melaka plays a back seat but rounds things out nicely too. Worth a trip, felt this was much better than the so called best kopi in hougang/kovan
Comforting, savory herbal soup and a very generous whole chicken leg. Loved this! Came with a housemade dipping sauce with soy sauce, minced garlic & ginger, fried onions, red chilli and sesame oil (I think)
