[ Food Review — 20% off + no GST/SC too! ] What’s better than being able to get brunch food? Being able to grab brunch food at n i g h t, that’s what! While C^2 and I were perusing the frankly disappointing café dinner choices for the night, we realised/remembered that hey, Craftsmen is in Holland V, and they open until late!

I’ve only been to Craftsmen a couple of times, and only to their Siglap brunch — where I had their salmon waffles which were pretty good for café fare! — so I wasn’t sure if this branch would live up to my prev exp. What I enjoyed about my prior visits was the ambience: the space was open, the atmosphere was relaxed, with the added bonus of pretty good coffee and food.

The Holland V branch was a lot narrower and closely packed, and while that’s not the fault of the brand (gotta work that space, yo), it did impact my initial impression — it just felt like any ol’ café spot. But on the plus side, the service was warm and friendly! (Take note F&B peeps, this is one of the best ways to cultivate not just customers, but regulars.)

I was originally looking forward to some waffle action, but since I’m not feeling robust enough to risk buttermilk, had to make a 15-min decision detour before settling for their Kimchi Sourdough ($20) open ‘wich w/o cheese. After deliberating for equally long (heh), C^2 ordered the Smoked Salmon Brioche open ‘wich ($19) w/ a side of Tater Tots ($7).

What I’d intended to be a light dinner went out the window when the plates arrived — my goodness, they’re bigger than we’d expected! Even the tater tots arrived as a tiny mound, and despite having two fans of fried potato present, we could not demolish more than half of it, welp.

One thing I’ll give Craftsmen is that they know how to make a plate pop. Not just visually (love when photos take themselves!), but the contrast of textures and flavours made the entire process a really fun one: The sausage+bacon anchored the dish; the bite of kimchi contrasted it; the rich, runny yolk tied it all together; the sprouts+pomegranate seeds lifted it back up. (Personally think the cheese would’ve made it too heavy, I’d suggest skipping it too.)

Guess this is my new fav dish here!

Although the place is pretty chill and good cafe vibe (since there isn't much people) but the food isn't that great. The fries are pretty tasteless... not sure if we're going for healthier options over here 😅 And the portion is quite little and it's not helping the fact that they use such a huge plate hhaha. The patty was pretty good though, can taste the chilli/spice they used (warning ⚠️ some might find it very spicy). The buns nothing too special. Might visit them again since they are having 20% off for dinner right now!

Coffee is amaze balls (Dutch colony, not too acidic, smooth finish) but overpriced. Service also leaves much to be desired. Delivered my food order to someone else and when the customer tried to tell the staff so, the staff member brushed her off. Ended up having to retrieve my food from the customer. Thumbs down.

Who loves some soft & pliable buttermilk waffles? 🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m certainly game for it & Craftsmen Signature Waffle ($18) here at @craftsmenspecialtycoffee at Mohd Sultan certainly satisfied my sweet tooth! 😋
Featuring a generous amount of fresh berries 🍓, roasted nuts, seasalt caramel ice cream & drizzle of salted gula melaka syrup on some fluffy waffles, this surely made an indulgent treat! 🤤🤤🤤 Absolutely loved how the tangy berries add a fruity note & balance out the overall sweetness of this plate! ✔
The sliced roasted almonds 🥜 added a nice crunch, while the gula melaka syrup added an irresistible fragrance. 🌟 The seasalt caramel ice cream was a classic, complementing the waffles that was very well done with a very crisp exterior which I liked! 💕 All waffles are freshly made in-house so you gotta give it a 20mins wait! 👌🏻
& if you’re a frequent their cafes, you would have realised that they have switched up their waffles from the typical round ones to these criss-cross ones! More crispy edges FTW! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Craving for something more fancy for brunch? We tried the Ribeye Croissant Sandwich ($26) 🥩🥐, which is the most premium of their croissant sandwiches series. 🤤🤤🤤 Other options such as Ham & Cheese ($16), Truffle Eggs & Roasted Tomatoes ($18) or Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Eggs & Sliced Avocadoes ($19) would be great choices too! 👏🏻
The croissant was pretty delightful - I particularly enjoyed the crisp exterior, while it remained airy & soft inside. 💯 While it was rich & buttery, I’m glad that it wasn’t oily! 👍🏻 Featuring a generous portion of ribeye 🥩 (300g before cooking), juicy sauteed mushrooms🍄, sweet caramelised onions, crunchy lettuce 🥬 & finally drizzled with an addictive in-house sauce, this was indeed a flavourful one. 😋😋😋
While I would prefer the beef to be more tender (inevitable as it had to be served well done 😂 instead of my usual preference of medium rare), it was still a good eat! 👌🏻

Breakfast all day, everyday. A breakfast bomb piled up high with generous amount of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and guacamole on a thick toast. The pea sprouts and roasted nuts "garnishes" gave the dish added texture and freshness; and the drizzle of their signature mayo sauce elevated the flavours with a slight zesty tang. Incredibly tasty, satisfying and full-filling hearty plate of goodness. 😍
