A very pleasant place for brunch. Burger is nice and juicy. Buns are also not too rich. Looking forward to trying the rosti and other items on the menu.

Found out about @dailyground.co, a rather new cafe serving gelato from @sugartreegelato, food, drinks and pastries, and it's quite a nice place to eat at and unwind. We had oolong chrysanthemum and dark chocolate gelato on rosemary cones. The dark chocolate was rich and the oolong chrysanthemum had a lighter flavour in comparison. I would have liked a stronger oolong flavour because it wasn't really distinct when I had it.

Creamy pistachio gelato with very crisp waffles.
The best part of this dessert was that addictive sea salt caramel sauce .

Visited the new Daily Ground at Bukit Timah Road fairly recently — they are a new multi-concept cafe by the same folks behind Two Bakers (yes, that Two Bakers at Teck Chye Terrace and Horne Road) which also houses Sugartree Gelato (which recently moved out of their former outpost at Stars of Kovan) in the same roof. Taking over the former premises of the now-defunct The Missing Pan (which was more recently an outlet of Kith Cafe prior to Daily Ground moving in), Daily Ground occupies both Level 1 and Level 2 of the shophouse, while offices take up the remaining levels. At Level 1, patrons can choose to walk-in to purchase takeaway bakes and coffee from Daily Ground and gelato from Sugartree Gelato, while Level 2 features a dine-in space that patrons can also enjoy various sides, brunch dishes and mains ranging from their Poppin' Cauli and Rosti Benny, to items such as Massaman Beef Curry and Charred Cabbage with White
Bean Puttanesca.

One of the items that really stood out for us would be the Cocky Bun from Daily Ground’s menu of bakes. Whilst they do offer other viennoiserie which comes with rather unique flavours (think Pear Oolong Almond Cream Croissant and Truffle Mushroom Mash Potato Danish), it is the Cocky Bun that attempts to push their bakes to the next level. Available in two flavours — i.e. Otah Cocky Bun and Pull Pork Cocky Bun, we opted for the latter. Essentially their take on the Hong Kong-style Bolo Bun, the Cocky Bun is their iteration where they have adopted that concept into a mini bun — the fillings are then stuffed inside much like a hotdog bun. Not sure how the name “cocky” came about; perhaps aesthetically looking like a cock’s comb? Nonetheless, the Pull Pork Cocky Bun was pretty decent — the top layer comes with that a thin, crackling layer that one would expect out of a Bolo Bun; there is a subtle sweetness going around in this area — one that is fairly light and rather undetectable against the heavier notes of the pull pork stuffed within. I liked how the pulled pork was tender and sufficiently moist; also came with ample sauce for a sweet, savoury and smoky note typical of BBQ sauce, with caramalised onions added for a sweetness. The bun beneath seemed to replicate closely to a hotdog bun; soft and fluffy. To be fair; a rather well-sized item for those looking for a light breakfast to go alongside coffee.

Really appreciated how Two Bakers didn’t really attempt to integrate much of their original branding into Daily Ground — rather, they seem to have tried to keep the Daily Ground a brand separate, offering different items from their parent brand. Perhaps it is an attempt to move away from the familiarity that Two Bakers may bring, and an exploration into new realms that brings patrons a new experience. There isn’t a lack of cafes in the Bukit Timah neighbourhood, but Daily Ground does offer a different experience; a more exclusive dine-in vibe considering how one would usually be seated at Level 2, whilst being able to order from a wide variety of items in one destination from different concepts (a little like Socieaty by the Les Amis Group). A destination worth checking out whilst around this neighbourhood.
