Ouch! Felt the pinch from the šŸ’ø not from the pincers simply because there isnā€™t really much of a significant pincer to speak of. The ā€œpincerā€ you see in photos is a small pincer with a small pinch of meat hanging dangerously, seemingly at risk of falling into the chilli broth and disappear. Thereā€™re white shreds in the chilli sauce but to be honest, thereā€™s not much texture to the bite and therefore, Iā€™m half suspecting itā€™s egg whites rather than crab meat? Considering how ā€œeconomicalā€ this is priced, it might well be that case! The bread bowl is made of soft pillowy bread (ie not the kind with baguette-like crust that you get from The Soup Spoon), hence you should really slurp up your meal before your bowl crumbles from soaking up the weight of the liquid). My colleague found the chilli sauce a lilā€™ too spicy for her liking and she didnā€™t finish her portion. I thought it was okay! For the price and quality, Iā€™d invest my $ for a decent bread bo

Probably one of the cheapest Yam Paste around at $3.00, but possibly one of the ones that is the most off from the usual. The Yam Paste is unusually stiff and clumpy here whilst being on the sweeter side; almost impossible to mash entirely into the whole mixture while the pumpkin could have been cooked longer to achieve a softer consistency.

From Deja Brew Cafe, a newly-opened cafe that serves up local delights from the various Chinese dialect groups in Singapore ā€” pretty apt for a cafe that is situated in the building that it is in.

Went for the Hakka Salt Baked Chicken which felt less salty as compared to other variants that I have tried ā€” they don't seem to be particularly heavy-handed with the salt here, though I would have actually preferred the chicken to have come a little saltier. The flesh was actually considerably tender, though the rice felt a little undercooked and stiff especially in a specific area of the mound that was served on the plate. Strangely, the soup was actually rather flavourful; possibly even more so that the chicken itself ā€” not particularly salty, though definitely a bit heavier on the palate than usual.

Thumbs up. One of the better ones I've eaten.

It ended up in someone else's mouth.
