Didn’t know that Denzy had opened a new outlet in Bedok; this one opens till 2am over Fridays and weekends! Loveeee the interior decor, super chill and spacious. Denzy offers a good range of vegan options (I got the vegan (oat milk) dark chocolate sorbet and black sesame (non-vegan)) and it’s really palatable. Hope that more ice cream/dessert places will start to offer vegan options too!

There was still some time after making our visit to The Neptune and Little Farms Katong Point; so Denzy Gelato was the spot that we decided to check out, considering we were already in the East and that they had recently opened a new outlet in Bedok. Unlike their original space at Bishan which occupies a bigger unit, the Bedok outlet is situated within a more standard-sized single shop space in the void deck of a HDB flat, and is also decked in pastel blue and wooden accents for a brighter design theme which is rather cozy as well.

Hadn’t really come across this vegan flavour at their Bishan outlet before — the Coconut Milk, Gula Jawa, Sea Salt is one of those flavours that is conceptually created to replicate the usual Gula Melaka flavours that one may be able to find at some ice-cream parlours around, though with a switch up of ingredients. Being a vegan flavour, the use of coconut milk here replaces the standard milk used to churn the gelato, and carries a slight hint of coconut flavours akin to desiccated coconut; the use of Gula Jawa over Gula Melaka being a really smart move considering how Gula Jawa carries a deeper, earthier note than Gula Melaka — it carries more profound undertone, all that without being quite as sweet, while the sea salt attempts to round it the scoop of gelato with a clean finish.

There is something about Denzy Gelato that I find their gelato so satisfying — it’s not just about serving up gelato with wacky flavour combinations that actually work, but I liked how they seem to be able to churn out ice-creams with a smooth and creamy texture, and that the flavours do not seem to run off even if one lets it melt just a little, not to mention how this consistency remains the same for its vegan flavours. Happy to see how they have grown with a second outlet opened; wishing these folks the best in what is to come!
