Our yearly affair with 𝗗𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗶 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗴’s Steamed Chilli Crab & Pork Xiao Long Bao! We’ve been looking forward to August every year to their FEISTY FEAST. Counting down to last 2 days indulging in their Steamed Chilli Crab & Pork Xiao Long Bao. Oh my, we hadn’t had enough of them.. can we have them permanently on the menu, please??? These Xiao Long Bao were stuffed with pork and Chilli Crab 🦀 meat with spicy crab-based broth that’s so flavourful! Super tasty and shiok!!! ⠀

It’s no doubt that DTF’s xiao long bao (小笼包) remains very popular after 17 years’ existence in Singapore.

Each soup dumpling has 18 folds, no more, no less. So the consistency in the skin texture is there. The skin can be slightly thick at times, making it a little chewy. But if handled properly, it wouldn’t break at all and the precious gelatinous, collagen-rich soup can be savoured in one mouthful. It’d be nice if there could be a bit more salt or seasoning into the soup to give it a more well-rounded flavour.

Every dumpling is filled with chunky pieces of pork (there’s a chicken version available too, yuck). You can’t go wrong with it when you’re here as you’d know. Always a must order item regardless.

Fried rice with pork chop ($13++) is a seemingly simple dish that packs a plate of fragrant egg fried rice and well-marinated pork chop with a fine balance between tender and meaty.

The chili crab XLB is the seasonal item (till 31 Aug 2018). I loved how they were so generous with the crab meat. The sauce did not have a fiery kick, but it sure was tasty. Because it was so flavourful, I got a bit full after having 2. It is also bigger than the normal XLB that DTF offers. Worth a try!

Tried the chicken xiaolongbao... Was expecting intense chicken soup goodness, just like how the pork xlbs are pure pork flavour. But they were far from it, and worse, there was cilantro mixed in the filling, so cilantro haters, beware! Chicken marker in the basket was adorable tho
