Ding's Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (Seah Im Food Centre)

Arrived at 11.15am and order roast chicken drum stick rice with additional side orders of braised egg and chicken gizzard.

The soup accompanying the chicken rice tastes more of msg and sugar than chicken. Portion of drum stick was also surprisingly small but stall assistant explained its because the drum stick had been deboned. Chilli sauce was okay but could do with a little more tartness.

But alas they committed the cardinal sin of all rice dishes - the chicken rice was not thoroughly cooked and there were grains of rice with rather hard cores. Unforgivable mistake.

The one thing they did right was the price. At $6.50 for drum stick rice plus egg and gizzard, this is very affordable in view of the growing inflation globally.

Before trying this, my colleagues has been raving about it and been wanting to go to Seah Im daily for it where they will chomp down 2-3 bowls of rice! Chicken rice set which includes vegetables costs only $3.50. I added a egg and liver so it was $5 in total. After tasting, I finally knew why they were craving for it daily, the rice was very fragrant and meat was tender too. This is one good plate of Chicken Rice and I reccomend everyone to give them a try! Chilli was spicy but not lethal so it was just right for me. However I do feel it's on the saltier side though! **The stall is closed every Thursday**

I don't usually eat random chicken rice but decided to take a crack at this. What struck me most was the variety in the basic plate. It came with greens, tau kwa and tau gey. This was unfortunately undercut by the hard rice grains. I suspect it's because I bought at 930am.
