Doubleย the beef,ย doubleย the enjoyment!

Feeds one hungry girl perfectly, @dirtybunsg Dirty Double Meal ($14) is the way to go to quench any burger cravings. Juicy, greasy but oh so satisfying, the grounded beef patties alone were really flavourful and well-seasoned. A tad messy to devour as the best way is to fit all layers in every bite, the freshly made buns were superbly soft and fluffy - great for soaking up all the beefy-flavour. Stacked with cheddar cheese and their homemade dirty sauce, the overall savouriness of the burger was what I enjoyed most. Each hearty meal also comes with hand-cut russet potato fries and a canned drink.

Note that they are limited to 80 buns daily. Open for walk-in daily from 12 pm-6.30 pm or a flat fee of $4 delivery surcharge per location with a minimum $35 order.

Seems like there are quite a number of burger places which had opened their doors during the Circuit Breaker period โ€” have came across the ones from Dirty Buns on social media multiple times, and being in Phase 2 now means I can finally try them out at Sprout Hub at City Sprouts.

Sharing the same kiosk as Okome, Dirty Bunsโ€™ menu is relatively lean with only a beef patty option or a fried chicken option available. The DB Classic (Single) is essentially the single patty variant of a classic cheeseburger; there is also a double patty variant available for those who intend to go big.

Featuring elements such as juicy ground beef, cheddar cheese and their secret Dirty Sauce in between โ€œfresh bunsโ€, these burgers are well sought after especially during the Circuit Breaker phase due to its limited production daily. This offers no surprises โ€” the sort of cheeseburger one would go for if they are looking for a simple, no-frills affair considering itโ€™s simple set-up; I how soft and fluffy the burger buns were, and barely felt overwhelming, while the beef patty is simple yet refined โ€” a handmade patty that provides enough bite, yet with a slightly crushed exterior from the grilling without being too veiny not fatty. The beef patty was also barely gamey โ€” sprinkled with pepper that helps to further elevate the flavours of the patty, whilst being juicy with every single bite and partially drenched in melted cheddar cheese for a slight savouriness. Could not really make up what goes into the Dirty Sauce; though I am guessing itโ€™s probably a mix that involves Dill(?) and Mustard(?); all that with leafy greens for a refreshing crunch.

Whilst available as a set with drinks (choice of Coca-Cola or 100 Plus), ordering the fries and burger ala-carte shaves $1 off the bill (and also provides for stomach space to go for the specialty coffee from PyRoast just beside). Fast-food lovers may lament on how the fries here lack the seasoning of salt, but the skin-on fries kind of reminds me of the Fairy Fries served at now-defunct Hambaobao โ€” simple, and full of potato and pretty clean-tasting overall โ€” quite enjoyable as a healthier, and more artisan type of fry.

More importantly, the patties were well-charred, impeccably seasoned, and played well with the cheese and sharp pickles for some rousing flavour interplay. Despite living in the nether realms of Yishun โ˜ ๏ธ the buns still arrived satisfactorily soft, even if kinda soggy.

Plenty of potential, especially at the low price point โ€” one to revisit after CB. With islandwide delivery for a mere $4, pre-order early since they often sell out due to a daily quota of 50 burgers.

Greeted at the stall by friendly owners who claimed their burgers are better than a few other popular hawker / foodcourt burgers. And right they are. These burgers are perfectly juicy and chunky, and came sandwiched between soft fluffy buns. Have it while its hot for maximum enjoyment.

For pillowy soft buns and juicy beef patties. It's been a while since I've had a great burger, this was still darn good heated up in the microwave for 20s. Fries could be a little less overfried but would definitely order the burger again!

Inspired by the burgers they ate during their trip to New York, Zac and BX soft-launched @dirtybunsg about a week ago. They pride themselves in hand-grinding the beef for patties, using their own ratio of fat to chuck and brisket. For me, itโ€™s this that sets their burger apart. Because they strive for coarseness over a fine mince, there is an almost steak-like quality to their patties. Very well seasoned (a little heavy-handed some might say but I am happy with the strong pepper element), and topped with properly melted cheese, the patties did arrive a tad overcooked (likely due to traveling time, just like the lettuce tucked in there), but I still enjoyed my Dirty Bun burger a lot.
The Single Patty version ($8 / $11 as a meal with handcut fries and a Coke) is alright if you have a small appetite. But to truly appreciate the effort these guys put in for their handmade-from-scratch patties, I say go straight for the Double ($11 / $14 for the meal). Also because the buns are more โ€œbreadyโ€ than brioche, I feel they perform better in the company of extra meat.
I requested for the housemade sauce (itโ€™s really well-balanced and tasty!) to be served on the side, so I could add on how much I want (a smidgen is my preferred). Plus I get turned off by sauce-soaked soggy buns, something Iโ€™ve encountered in the past with other delivered burgers.
One thingโ€™s for sure, Dirty Buns offers very good value-for-money food. Do #supportlocalsg business by checking them out if you are into patties of a chunky-meat chew.
