Still recall the first time I had foie gras, it was at Tanuki Raw. The way the duck liver just melts away in my mouth in fatty goodness.
Meat quality was alright, nice flavour in the beef atop a nice bed of white rice. Oysters were on promotion, plump and fresh! Sashimi slices were thick and fatty, melts in the mouth as well.
A good place to have a meal if I’m around the area! :)
Pan-seared foie gras, US black Angus short rib, onsen egg, truffle soy, black garlic brown butter over tanuki raw’s signature mixed rice.
Damn shiok foie gras beef bowl but very expensive as the portion was quite small 🤭 Wham! Fries was very interesting, first time having marshmallows on fries, which was so surprising good!
As a salmon lover I liked this don! Torched, sliced and mentaiko salmon all in one delicious bowl. The rice was also not overly vinegar-ed (like so many other places) and had some seasoning in it which lended some flavour to the whole bowl.
We also tried the foie gras truffle yakiniku don, and I didn’t like the foie gras, wasn’t seared very well and felt too buttery/raw - maybe not my preferred texture type. The beef was okay, nothing to shout about. But my experience was marred by the foie gras, so I’d wanna try their normal yakiniku don next time.
Featuring ingredients I love, it's quite sad how underwhelming it was. The US Black Angus short rib was boring and too chewy. There was barely any truffle taste. I appreciated the rice was flavoured with black garlic brown butter but the portion was too little. Overall I expected better from Tanuki Raw. Lucky I added the foie gras.
For their Dons, we went for their foie gras truffle Yakiniku with shaved truffle, and their Kaisen Chirashi. Both bowls were packed with premium ingredients, although flavour wise they didn’t really match up.
Quality over quantity perhaps but the limited portions and robustness in flavours left us unsatisfied, especially when the bill came up to be higher than what we would expect.
Foie Gras is excellent and goes well with the rice, very rich. The beef was a slight disappointment as it lacked the flavour and was a little too chewy for my liking. 🔸

Went to Tanuki Raw for dinner today and ordered:
- Instagram this Maki($14.90)
- 6 slices of sashimi(4 salmon, 1 tuna, 1 yellowtail) 🍣($1/slice during happy hr, but must purchase a drink)
- 2 fresh oysters($4)
- Dry Strawberry non-alcoholic drink?($10)🍸
- Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku ($23)🍱
Firstly, the instagrammable maki was worth it omg😍 it tastes damn good and for that portion, im amazed!
The sashimi is $1/slice which is pretty affordable, but happy hour is only between 5-8pm and a drink must be bought to order this side😄
Dry strawberry drink was a 😕 as it tastes more like sourplum than strawberry
Lastly Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku was not bad, but portion wise was a little small and not filling for me😅
Overall would rate this an 8/10 for freshness, quality of the food and staff service☺️👍🏻
