Kaisen Bara Don Set

$20.80 · 17 Reviews

Their fish is fresh, beer/sake options are wide and their service is top notch.
Their signature, The Kaisen Bara Don Set [$22.80] - salmon, ikura, minced tuna, avocado and tamogoyaki all condensed into one amazing bowl of goodness. Together with a side of chawamushi, miso soup and fruit, the meal is very complete. For this quality and for their quantity, I can assure you that you will not regret ordering this. It had been reported on their webpage to be one of the Top 15 Chirashi Don Sets in Singapore using premium fresh seafood airflown into Singapore 2-3 times a week. I personally enjoyed every single mouthful of their fresh sashimi with their bed of decadent Japanese short grain rice.

I usually go in the weekend afternoon, the place is almost never crowded at that timing. It is a laid back restaurant where I can really relax and have a good meal together with my friends and family.
Beyond good food, you will be glad to know that Sumiya has All Day Happy Hour, with Sapporo Draft Beer [$4.80++ for 330ml ; $42.80++ for 3.2L]. It is ALWAYS a good idea to order some beer after your meal, especially at this price. Where else in Suntec City can you get beer for less than $5? I personally feel that this is definitely a good deal that you shouldn’t miss out on.
If you’re in the area, you really should go to
Sumiya to have a bite. It is one of the best, if not the best Japanese Restaurant in Suntec City.

Tldr: Fresh Fish. Good ambience and service. Cheap beer. -Foodier ✌🏻

Good value ($20.80++) for lunch set, excellent amount and quality of sashimi and rice. comes with edamame and dessert, top up $3 for the mochi for the full experience! (they also have truffle sauce and sesame sauce, but it didn't quite match)

If you're looking to satisfy your chirashi cravings in the Suntec area, this is it! Comes with sides and fruits.

This place is pricey ($40+++) per pax at least. Luckily the lunch sets offered (available from mon-sat, not sure about Sunday) make it more affordable and are definitely value-for-money($18.80-$30++). This Kaisen Bara Don has a good any of fresh sashimi. The fish is of great quality, though one of the fish roe was very bitter(spoilt?), but the unique and delish dipping sauces of sesame, truffle and llaver (seaweed) gave it an edge. The set also comes with a starter of a pile of edamame, miso soup and a dessert of either fruits or (very very good) sesame mochi. The mochi had a creamy black sesame filling that wasn't too sweet. Not a mochi fan, but this stole my heart. At $18.80+, this is really worth it as an occasional treat esp for shallower pockets.
