Char Siew

RM11.00 Β· 17 Reviews

Super sweet and crispy on the exterior and melt in your mouth fatty and meaty goodness. The roasted pork was lean and flavorful but the skin wasn’t that crispy. The hakka noodles with generous servings of lard is so springy and a tad oily! Loved it so much, paired with the warm bowl of soup and roasted chicken that was so tender and succulent!

Head to this shop on days when you're craving some meaty comfort. The char siew is sweet, chunky and a bit on the oily side but it melts in the mouth so well. I'm usually not a fan of fatty meat but this was an exception.

Came here to try their well-known char siew, and while I loved the glistening caramelised shell encasing the slab of meat, I found some parts of the meat underneath overtenderised β€” some may say melt in the mouth, but I found it somewhat mushy.

The siew yoke's better than average and didn't disappoint with its crispy layer of skin, while the smoked chicken leg was better than expected. I love all things smoked, so I might be a bit biased, but the chicken was really tender and flavour-packed. πŸ‘…πŸ’¦

Do note that their serving portion of the Hakka noodles is rather generous so you might want to share a bowl so you whack more meat! πŸ˜†

A firm favourite for roasts in our books is Toast & Roast, the homely locale tucked away in a quieter part of SS2. The cuts of Premium Char Siew (from RM11) here are distinct β€” a sweet-sticky exterior leads you to its heavenly hybrid of juicy fat and delicious meat. A choice carb-pairing is the Hakka Noodles T&R (RM6.50). There is a more economical option for the noodles topped with single-portion char siew (RM7.50), but we assure you that there can never be too much char siew, so splurge away. Weekends are when families in the residential neighbourhood pop in for breakfast, so come instead for weekday lunch when it's just you and your char siew. Fine, maybe a close friend or colleague can come too.

Toast & Roast's char siew is one of the best I have tasted here in Malaysia. I like how fatty and juicy it is. It is very soft and it feels like melting in your mouth haha 😁 We usually order half char siew and half roast pork for RM33 - good for 4 la! The roast pork is okay, nothing too special. I would definitely munch on the char siew first when the plate is served πŸ˜› I've heard their Hakka Mee's (RM7) famous too so you could give that a try :)

Lunches here are quite busy so be prepared to line up for a parking space and a table.

Noodles are my staple breakfast and to have it with the tenderest fatty char siew is heaven. The T&R Hakka Noodles With Char Siew is only RM7.40 but prepare pay a heftier price in the form of waiting time.

The signature caramelised Bbq Pork here is good. Sweet and sticky outer layer, melt in the mouth fat and juicy meat. You choose to serve it with fragrant rice or hakka noodle.

This place might be a lil difficult to get a parking and seat on a weekend.
