Black Garlic Ramen

$14.90 ยท 5 Reviews

This was delicious for a starving girl. It wasn't too garlicky and the egg really hit the spot. It's really crowded during lunchtime according to the waitress but when we came in at dinnertime it was practically empty save for one single table at the corner. The ramen came really quickly after I submitted my order on their iPad Mini.

Thought this was pretty lacklustre.

Among the four of us, we tried three types of ramen: Kanshoku ($13.90), Black Garlic ($14.90) and Shoyu ($13.90). The original was the nicest. The Black Garlic had only the fragrance but lacking in taste (needed more garlic) and Shoyu tasted kind of peanut-y (not sure why). I also really liked the Yuzu Lemon Tart ๐Ÿ‹ ($6.20) we had for dessert. It was a good balance of sweet and sour.

Egg is an add on but was too sweet for my liking.. Ramen was not chewy enough and soup was a little bland. Pork was really tender but not flavorful enough.. 3/5๐ŸŒŸ

The comforting and light pre-garlic broth tastes almost herbal soup-esque in its robustness of flavour, being rather different from the usual oink-heavy versions you get from standard ramen joints. Upon mixing with the black garlic, the broth develops a deeply fragrant personality without overreaching into vampire murder territory. Elsewhere, the ramen is springy and nicely avoids starch traps, the chashu is lean, soft and sweet and the whole ajitama egg is delightfully molten inside. 4/5
