Eggs on Sourdough Toast

$6.00 · 4 Reviews

For those who love their eggs on sourdough toast. Husband rated this as his favourite eggs ben and it didn’t hurt that they were very generous with their salmon too!

I came back for their mussels and they were still as fresh and sweet 😋

Each serving of scrambled eggs consists of 2 rich, golden New Zealand organic eggs. The colour is enough to tell you it's no ordinary egg. The eggs are creamy and delightful. I always sprinkle tons of black peppercorn to enhance the flavour. Don't forget to save some sourdough because eggs on toast is pure bliss.

Needless to say, House of AnLi is my favourite brunch place in Singapore. The food quality is really good. The amount of sunshine is fab. It's also the first place I've had Belgian food at as well! Do try everything on the menu.

House of AnLi, a European furniture and homeware store on the third floor of Tanglin Mall, has designated a part of its space for its newly minted bistro. The space, complete with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows (very picturesque!), also has long communal tables — great for weekend brunch with the family. Soak in the good vibes as you sip on a Latte (from $5.50) made with Allpress Espresso coffee beans from New Zealand, then tuck into the simple but well-executed Eggs on Sourdough Toast (from $6). There's a choice of having one or two New Zealand organic eggs on your toast, as well as the style it's cooked in (soft boiled, poached or scrambled). For the full works, be sure to add on the Farmer's Bacon ($6), Avocado ($4) and Mixed Mushrooms ($6). All breads served in House of AnLi Bistro are made in France and shipped to Singapore. Note that dishes here can add up to be quite pricey (especially the mains), but the quality of the food and the ambience makes it worthwhile!

House of AnLi Bistro is hidden behind House of AnLi, a shop retailing homeware at Tanglin Mall that serves cafe/bistro fare with a rather focused menu of eggy breakfast dishes and also some mains. The establishment seems to be very popular with Caucasian tai-tais, and seats are hard to get even for one even during weekday lunch hours

Didn't really have an intention to order this but was actually tempted by it when they were serving it to the other tables while I was waiting for my seat. The scrambled eggs come as a basic order of simply eggs on sourdough toast, with a small list of optional add-one which I opted for the Farmer's Bacon and the Mixed Mushroom. Everything is fresh on the plate; savoury slices of thin bacon that is nothing short of flavourful, while the mushrooms gave it a nice, juicy and earthy bite. Scrambled eggs were done just the way I like them; lightly-creamy in terms of flavour but still relatively eggy while done all runny. For those who might be worried that the sourdough toast may be a little stiff, the toast itself carries a little tension, while the juices of both the bacon and mushrooms helps to inject a little bit more flavour and moisture to the toast — those who prefer avocado would be delighted to know that avocado is part of the list of add-ons available for this dish as well.

House of AnLi Bistro is perhaps a cafe that hits spot-on with all the elements checked. It's an absolutely pretty space that has large ceiling-to-floor windows, big communal tables and spacious aisles that makes it feel very un-local in the local cafe scene. The larger proportion of Caucasian crowds here also helps to create that vibe. Service is good here as well; polite servers with the lady boss following up on orders and making small talk; it's bustling and a little loud but comfortable and homely. Definitely worth a visit to experience once if you can!
