Murgh Makhani

Decked out in long wooden tables, this casual but swanky Indian restaurant is prime for celebrations. The owners are friendly, service is prompt and food is consistently tasty! The menu of northern Indian eats is wonderful for sharing too. Get the must-have garlicky Lasooni Gosht (mutton, RM37), fragrant Mutton Briyani (RM20) and the Murgh Makhani (butter chicken, RM31). The latter is served with a side of bread so you can mop up every last bit of the creamy gravy.

Have a soft spot for this and Flour's version didn't disappoint. Each order here comes with bread. We chose puris and ordered kalcha with our butter chicken.

In frame: Murgh Mahani (RM18) is a marinated chicken dish served in a mild spiced tomato curry. The flavours in the curry was just amazing. My sister literally wiped clean the bowl with their yummy naan bread.
Flour provides excellent service, lovely relaxed ambiance and quality food. Just over a month old, this North Indian restaurant is not to be missed.

At Bukit Damansara's new FLOUR, an open kitchen in the back dishes out piping-hot biryani pots as the front bustles with filled tables — meet your next venue for group lunches! The Vegetarian Thali (RM15) is a fast, tasty option for those on a tight lunch schedule, but we highly recommend saving this spot for when you have time. The Mutton Biryani (RM20) requires that you wait 20 minutes, but we assure you that it is worth every minute. The long grains boast a herby fragrance while large pieces of flavoursome mutton rest beneath. Owner Natasha advises eating the biryani on its own, and should you find it too spicy for your liking, add on raita (yoghurt) for a creamy balance. Our favourite order here has to be the Murgh Makhani (butter chicken, RM18) that comes with your choice of bread. Go with the Laccha Kulcha (leavened bread) with layers made for mopping up sweet, buttery gravy. The eatery also does their cha very well. End with the invigorating spice of a Ginger Cha (RM4) or Masala Milk Cha (RM4) — served in clay cups for an authentic feel.
Avg price per person: RM20

Flour takes indian dining to sophisticated heights, with an interior that just reminds me of Aussie. Here, the food lends a nod to the chef’s father’s time-tested recipes, particularly his famed biryani. The biryani here has more of a spicy kick to it as compared to the biryani I had at Shah Ghouse in Hyderabad (a.k.a best biryani I’ve ever had) which tasted a lot more fragrant and dense in flavour. Because their biryanis are made to order, expect a longer waiting time than your usual biryani go-tos. The Murgh Mahani (butter chicken) is seriously good. Its usually served with rotis, but I find the dish best paired with rice. We also had a go with their Vegetarian Thali which was OK, not as memorable as their butter chicken dish. The locals seem to like this place a lot, we were lucky to have scored a seat on a weekday lunch without reservations. Service-wise, these guys are a friendly bunch so be nice!
