Steamed Black Mussels

$18.00 · 5 Reviews

Wine & Chef — a cosy wine shop, restaurant and bar — offers more than 250 Italian boutique wines as well as Mod-Sin cuisine (to pair with the wines). The wines are available by the bottle or glass at affordable prices. Housepour wines going for $6++ per glass and bottles start from $25+. What a steal!
-
Crab Meat "Hokkien Mee" ($26++) — Al dente linguine tossed in high grade dark soy sauce and seafood broth. Served with a melange of seafood such as blue swimmer crab, tiger prawns, squid and black mussels. And not forgetting the most essential element of the dish — generous sprinkle of crispy pork lard!
-
The Mod-Sin dishes that we have tried are surprisingly good! I would recommend the Salmon Confit "Risotto" ($18++) and Curry Pork Knuckle ($20++).
-
PS: A 3-course set lunch (weekdays, 12-3pm) is also available at $15. #dontsaybojio

Wine and Chef's main draw is that they serve wines by the glass at super reasonable prices (from $6). Pair that with some equally affordable mains and you've got yourself a happy meal. Located across the street from Foong Kee Coffee Shop on Keong Saik Road, Wine and Chef sees floor-to-ceiling walls stocked with wine bottles, making the space dark and tight, but cozy. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable — great for a relaxed, affordable date. Start your meal with the Homemade Focaccia Bread ($3) that Burppler Jayson Yeo recommends dipping into the Egg Confit with Mushrooms ($5). For mains, order the Steamed Black Mussels ($18) cooked with a generous amount of coriander, chilli and a splash of Chinese wine. Feel free to add on pasta (additional $3) should you want a more filling meal. Big eaters will love the humongous portion of Curry Pork Knuckle ($20). Served with achar on the side, the hearty, tender pork is deboned and cut into smaller, bite-sized pieces that can easily feed a group of four! Pro tip: Visit on Mondays to have the Steamed Black Mussels ($18) at half price!
Avg Price: $20 per person

Steamed Black Mussels ($18)

I know it's Sunday but that's also why I want to give everyone a heads up about this amazing Monday deal @wine.n.chef ! This bowl of steamed black mussels goes for HALF PRICE @ $9 😱 on Mondays! They are not stingy on the amount of mussels and you can also add $3 to have linguine added to this bowl. Won't want that delicious zhup to go to waste after-all! I really enjoyed the mussels here as they taste clean albeit I had just a few unopened ones. Felt so shiok to pay only $9 for so many mussels!

What's also great here is that they serve decent quality wine at a very friendly price of $6 per glass! I definitely enjoyed my moscato🥂!

First, lemme get it out of the way that this place sells a glass of wine (red/white/moscato) at a cray cray price of $6! 🍷Seriously??? And the food? Ridiculous value too for the portions they hand out.

This mountain of mussels is half off on Mondays and while not the freshest available (can't beat SUP's rendition), the quantity and quality far surpassed expectations. You can also add pasta to this for $3, making it a super filling meal on its own. The chef uses flavours I particularly enjoy too, with copious amounts of coriander, chilli and other Asian influences. Deffo will be back! 😝
