Soft and wobbly pudding-like kueh made with the richest gula Melaka, coconut milk, tapioca flour. Served with a generous amount of grated coconut

Every bite of this traditional Peranakan teatime snack/dessert leaves a memorable impression that you will specially make a return trip back just for this. Infused with gula Melaka, this steamed tapioca kueh has an excellent chewiness texture while not being cloyingly sweet as those sold elsewhere. Paired with the grated coconut, it gives it a savoury-sweet flavour that’s best washed down with a coffee or tea.

Folklore will also be celebrating Christmas with their Eurasian Christmas Menu (available from 14-31 Dec) and you can look forward to their limited time only desserts such as the Bolu Cocu ($8++ per slice), a coconut cake with spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in it, and the Sugee Cake ($10++ for 3 slices) an almond buttery cake that’s brushed with brandy everyday for a week to give it a tinge of sweetness.

What a nice set lunch at Folklore earlier. Had the Eurasian Birthday noodles and it was delicious. First time trying this. To me it is somewhat similar to hokkien mee but this has more flavour and nicely done. This set lunch week 5 promo is till 31 Aug. $30++ for 2 pax that includes 2 calamansi drinks and kueh kosui. It really is a good deal. Their kueh kosui here is so nice! No wonder i did a read up on the place and quite a no of people recommended kueh kosui too. Good thing it's included in the set lunch. If not its gonna cost $8. 🙂nice ambience, good service, lovely food. Keep it up Folklore and Chef Damian D'Silva

Wobbly and supremely tender, like warabi mochi but a bit chewier, with a deep Gula Melaka flavour and topped with freshly shredded coconut. #yourdestinationhotel

Covered with freshly grated coconut, Folklore’s house-made Kueh Kosui ($8) may be the best one yet. One of my all time favourite Kuehs; their rendition was soft, not all that starchy or chewy and none too sweet. Characterised by the wonderful aroma and flavours of gula melaka, the best part was the hint of saltiness in the desiccated coconut that seems to bring out the caramel-like quality of snack/dessert.

Kueh Kosui (S$6++)
Available at @FolkLoreSg in @YourDestinationHotel
The texture was so soft, simply melt in the mouth. If it was a little less sweet, it would be even better.
Better make reservation before coming, else like me sitting outside which was so warm and humid. Can’t help wish there’s fans blowing around.

The kueh bengkah (baked tapioca) had just the right texture and taste. I especially loved the edges which were slightly crisp from the baking. Tasted lovely with the coconut ice cream served with it.
*
Kueh kosui (steamed tapioca with gula melaka, commonly known as palm sugar). It was a tad soft and sweet but very fragrant. Yummy especially when eaten with the fresh and crunchy grated coconut sprinkled on TOP.

Baked custard with gula melaka. This was inspired by a Spanish dessert called koka. It was very smooth and tasted lovely with the fragrant gula melaka. This was my favourite of all the three desserts we tried that night.

😂😂😂 Ok, that's all.

That shag pile carpet lookalike is almost juicy, freshly grated coconut, cleverly tossed with salt to make salivary glands go into overdrive. It really is the perfect thing to pair with the indecently soft, light and none-too-sweet house-made Kueh Kosui buried underneath.
So, we had actually paid for our bill and were ready to leave the restaurant when I changed my mind and decided to squeeze this in after all. My extra stuffed belly gives thanks the combined powers of my friend Cheryl Lee's enthusiastic messages on Instagram and the warm, knowledgeable service of Tan Hwee Li, Assistant F&B Manager at Destination Singapore Beach Road 😆😆
