Mee Rebus

$5.90 · 17 Reviews

I have been visiting my makan place since their Katong days .

So glad now they are conveniently located at arc.

Comforting bowl of mee Rebus . Well made sauce that’s not too sweet and plump and fresh beancurd cubes .

You have a choice to add on bergadil to add more variety to your plate .

Value for money 👏.

Never a Fan of mee Rebus but this one was slightly more palatable. The sweet and viscous sauce had a nice consistent compared to some other places that are too goopy, and the yellow Noodles that are my least favourite kind of Noodles also had a more bearable texture than most other yellow Noodles.

Look at these beautiful strands! Had Mee Rebus noods for lunch and they were yum!

The bright yellow egg noodles are dipped in a curry-like gravy made of umami-packed shrimp broth and Indonesian spices. The taste is mildly sweet and only lightly spicy with refreshing citrus notes from the calamansi and lemongrass.

The dish is topped with fried tofu, Chinese celery, cilantro and green chilies, with the addition of a hard boiled egg.

I liked this Indonesian specialty at My Makan Place even though I’m usually not a fan of soups that use thickening agents to turn more dense as I can feel the sliminess of the starch.

Note: I had my meal at My Makan Place’s Jurong Garden Food House stall in Jurong East.

For some reason, Mee rebus has never been one of my favourites because the ones I have tasted either had sauces that were too sweet or too starchy or had noodles that were exploding with ammonia smell .

The Mee rebus at my makan place has radically changed my mind .

It was outstanding - probably the best Mee rebus I have tasted. The gravy tasted so robust and full of umami . You can see remnants of little shrimps blended into the sauce so you know they use the real stuff .

The noodle quality is pretty good so you don’t get that strong ammonia smell .

The whole dish came together very well and the portion is generous .

So much effort and love from the chef put into this dish .

This is already a ridiculously good version of mee rebus, and at $6, it comes with fried fish, fried wanton and seafood ball (I think we were missing fish skin though).

We thought they were pretty good.
The Ayam Penyet was nicely done with the desired crispy crust. The sambal belachan chilli was undoubtedly the star of the dish. However, would prefer the rice to be not the mushy type even if it was meant to be traditional.
The Gado Gado was a pleasant accompanying dish. Loved the subtle taste of spicy in the thick satay gravy.
Their menu seemed to be geared towards stable food such as rice and noodles, although it would be great if they offered more choices for sides.

Never had mee rebus with so many ingredients (althou mine was missing the fish skin?)

I finally had the chance to come by my makan place for their much acclaimed Mee rebus.

The Mee Rebus gravy was robust with a rich stock and was slightly towards the sweeter side . Very evidently - the gravy was homemade because I could still taste the fine bits of rempah within the gravy .

Good quality QQ yellow noodles are used in this dish and thankfully no ammonia aftertaste :)

The beancurd cubes were plump and moist .

A very well executed dish I must say 😊

I didn’t know what to expect since it was you know, mee rebus. But this caught me off guard.

The gravy was thick and rich in flavour which I absolutely love. Not only did it came in a generous portion but I really like how it came with the fried fish skin, battered fish fillet and also the crispy wanton, giving it more textures which was great!

Would definitely love to come back again whenever I’m in the area.

This is where you find fusion Indonesian / Malay foods with modern twist. Just like their Mee Rebus here unlike the traditional one, it comes with fried fish skins and seafood rolls. $5.90
