Steamboat Buffet

$29.80 Β· 5 Reviews

This is our go-to for reasonably priced hot pot and affordably priced beer; the industrial chic setting of brick walls and cement floors is a nice plus. Along with standard ingredients like sliced meat, seafood and veggies, the Steamboat Buffet ($29.80) also features lesser provided ingredients like pig intestines, prawn paste and beef omasum (a part of cow stomach). The latter is especially delicious having soaked up all the flavours in the mala broth. Like Guo Fu Steamboat, the price here excludes the broth base β€” expect to pay an average of $18 for two soups, so come in a group to keep the cost down. Some favourite broths among the Burpple community include the Sichuan mala, the pork-based bone soup and sweet tomato. Beer lovers would appreciate that the beer here averages at $6 a serving, with four big bottles of Qingdao going for $20!
Avg price: $40

Pig Brain.
.
For safety reason, we cooked it longer just to be safe. The brain actually shrinks about 40% from its original size.
.
Taste wise: soft, creamy, moist and mushy. Absent of any foul or gamy flavour. If fact if you do a blind test, u will not have guest it is a pig brain.
.
Will I ate it again.... NO!!! Once is enough unless I turn into Hannibal Lecter.😜😜😜
.
Btw, check out 55 Steamboat for their steamboat buffet. Value for money and delicious, in modern industrial settings.

Steamboat Buffet (~$40/pax)

Newly opened @55steamboat serves up excellent soup bases like their pork bone soup and mala soup. The rich pork bone broth is already very tasty on its own. Overall, ingredients were very fresh. I particularly enjoyed their big intestines strips, an item seldom available at buffets. Another item deserving special mention is their handmade prawn ball. Served in a piping bag, the service staff will assist you to add the prawn paste into the soup in the shape of little prawn balls! Once cooked, the balls are a nice pinkish red and delivers the sweetness and crunchiness of the fresh prawn meat!

55 Steamboat is currently running a 10% discount opening promo so capture the opportunity to try this at a stealπŸ˜‰!

With the constant rain and chilly weather, there's only one thing on my mind – hot, steaming bowls of soup soup soup! πŸ˜‹ Just opened a week ago, 55 steamboat has quite a wide range of items on the menu (some you won't normally find at the standard steamboat places too), better quality and very friendly service to boot! πŸ™Œ

The soup base we got was the Mala (level one for us please πŸ™ˆ) and the Bone Soup – a pork bone base. The bone soup was sooooo gooooood! Right off the bat, we were slurping it down. And the owner says no msg! Do note that the soup is a separate charge ($18) so bigger groups of about 4 pax would be more worth it. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

The meat range is nubbad, with sliced meats that will satisfy. We mainly stuck to the Marinated Beef that was super tender and the Sliced Pork Belly. We also loved the Pig's Intestines that was super shiok after taking a slow bath in the mala.

Overall a great experience, but can be pricy if you're going down with just 2 pax. I'd recommend grabbing the nearest couple and making it a double date. πŸ‘―πŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ

New kid on the block! πŸŽ‰ Thanks to the recent rainy weather we've been experiencing, I'm constantly craving for a warm & absolutely comforting streamboat meal! Chanced upon 55 steamboat & gave it a shot. Best decision everrrr. They're not only value for price but the service here is also top notched! Tho they might make a few small rookie mistakes but they make it up w being really friendly & attentive. Constantly checking in when they spot our table becoming empty & asking if we would like to order more. Ingredients here are not only fresh but in sizable servings. We chose their sweet tomato soup base. For those who love spicy food, go for their Sichuan mala soup base! There's a total of 3 spiciness level so choose wisely! πŸ”₯ They also have a rich yet light bone soup base for those who prefer milder palates. Their selection of ingredients provided are pretty extensive. With a good combination of seafood (fish, scallops, prawn, squid, etc), meats (pork, pig intestines 😍, beef slices, beef omasum, lamb, etc) & vegetables (cabbage, mushroom, yam, corn, kelp, beancurd, etc). & to top it all off, beers here are off the charts cheap! 4 big ass Qingdao bottles for only $20! 🍻🍻 OH HO HO YASSSS! #chugtime All in all, a highly recommended place for a cozy, hearty & value for money dinner.

(Ps: I went back twice in a single weekend. 🐽 I blame the rain.) #noshame
